Normally if I drag myself to North Beach for takeout, I grab Italian. But decided to be a little contrarian and got Mexican instead. Was pleasantly surprised with how tasty everything was. And the menu seemed especially designed to travel home and still taste good out of the bag.
Texas Queso: I don't know who needs to hear this, but queso is way better than guacamole when it comes to dips! And their queso in particular was quite enjoyable, still warm and creamy by the time I got it home. In addition to being super cheesy, it had a lot of nice pepper pieces to give it a good kick. I could seriously make this an entire meal with a large enough vat of cheese. So good!
Carne Asada Burrito: A really memorable burrito. The flour tortilla tasted freshly made, like a giant Indian roti. Way way better than the prepackaged flour tortilla everyone else in town uses. And the steak was awesome. Like someone just grilled a skirt steak and cut it into large chunks. I also appreciated how they were light on the rice, since it's often a cheaper filler that steals space from better ingredients.
Tacos Dorados: Not gonna lie, these kinda look like large versions of José Olé mini tacos. Thankfully looks are the only similarity. Pretty simple concept, a corn tortilla folded over some filling and deep fried until nice and crispy. Goes quite well with the sour cream and salsa dips. The Classic Ground Beef & Cheese is the best flavor by far, albeit reminiscent of the frozen snack (though much better). The Potato filing was very bland though. Kinda like boiled potatoes and no spices. The carnitas was a nice dense meat blast.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Criss R.San Francisco, CA6671Oct 25, 2022
As soon as the salsa hit the table, I was pleasantly surprised. It was hot and spicy, and not prepared specifically for the "European" palette.
We ordered the beef shank birria, guacamole, and juevos rancheros, which came with tortillas de maiz. The food was way above average, the service was even better. I have not been here before, so I was skeptical about a Mexican restaurant that caters to a North Beach clientele. See Jenny X's review, "There was also a beef stew that I felt was a bit too spicy," yeah it's called birria pendeja.
The flavors and atmosphere are authentically Mexican, so I will definitely be going back. Hopefully they will make the food even more spicy to keep the "Jenny's" away.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 292289421Oct 28, 2021
This place definitely has lots of potential. I came to celebrate a birthday brunch a few weeks ago. We came with a group of 15 or so and had reservations prior.
We were seated quickly. For the most part majority of our table ordered bottomless mimosas. I liked that they brought the whole bottle of champagne and left them at the table for us to pour our own. They also had really good fresh squeezed cantaloupe juice to pair with the mimosa.
For food we each ordered different things. I had gotten the breakfast burrito. My only issue I had with the food was that the server messed up EVERY SINGLE ORDER. Literally every order...I understand that we have a large party so I get some confusion can happen, but not with every single order. They brought out meatless burritos which nobody at our table ordered. They also forgot several orders for other people and we had to constantly remind them over and over. When we mentioned it to the server she told us it was her first day and took full responsibility. I actually felt horrible for her that they just threw her in without any real formal training or anyone helping her run items with our huge party. The orders got so messed up that several of us just gave up and accepted whatever type of food they were bringing out.
I will give the server the benefit of the doubt which is why I'm giving 3 stars. I would definitely return and hopefully next time I can update my review with a higher rating since this place seems to have tons of potential.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura H.San Francisco, CA1681Jun 20, 2023

I absolutely love this place the food is amazing and the customer service is outstanding.
Their bottomless brunch was amazing and that says A LOT considering I'm from NYC and there's a plethora of bottomless brunch spots to go to. They don't give you an issue about switching up the bottomless cocktails either. We switched seamlessly between the mimosas and red sangria. If you wanted the mimosa they brought you out a nice, chilled bottle of sparkling wine along with a carafe of delicious, house-made honeydew juice. The red sangria was a hit and perfectly made. It tasted as if they had fresh cinnamon sticks soaking in the mixture overnight. The taste was undeniable. YUM!!! There was almost never a delay when it was time for another cocktail. The food was incredible as well. Great portions for the reasonable price paid. I had their Huevos Rancheros that came with crispy Yukon potatoes. Truly a hit! I devoured those perfectly seasoned and crispy potatoes and the delish Huevos Rancheros.
I clearly see why this place is a gem and busy beyond compare. Excellent food, drinks, ambiance and customer service. Highly recommended!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Joe H.Menlo Park, CA2695Jan 30, 2023
Good food, decent service. No real check in area with host...we kind of stood around for 5 minutes while food runners and servers walked past us back and forth before anyone stopped to ask if we needed any kind of help to be seated. Also the margaritas are made with wine not tequila or mezcal but the servers wont tell you that unless you ask them what kind of alcohol they use which can be a little misleading.
Also the dungeon you have to walk down to for the single restroom they have available for both men and women is usually a mess.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Samira A.San Jose, CA12510067Oct 7, 2022

Food was AMAZING, service was always great and wonderful, I absolutely love the ambiance provided my partner and I went there twice this year. Sadly we were so heartbroken that they were shutting down. The Sashimi is out favorite and Birria Tacos were always so delicious. We always order a pitcher of Margs and they never disappoint. I'm very sad that the last time was our last time there. I'm going to have to find a new date night spot.
