Love this place. What I really made this place extremely special was the divine pork chop which is the best pork chop that I have had in the world and I love pork chops. However it's no longer on the menu which is why this is only a 4 star review right now. The tacos are legit for sure and the al pastor are standouts. The tortillas are perfect, aNd the al pastor cooked and seasoned perfectly. There are so many imitation al pastor in this world so nailing that is fantastic.
The guacamole wasn't that great (not enough seasoning or flavor), but the chips and salsa totally on point.
But they need to bring the pork chop back. It's so damn good.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ashley L.San Diego, CA238086Jan 14, 2023
On a trip to SF, my girlfriends and I wanted to try this place out bc I had heard they have bottomless mimosas.
For $33 per person, you get 90 minutes of bottomless mimosas (they give you the bottle of Brut champagne and you mix yourself!). You can mix and match between mimosas, sangrias, and Modelo cans. 10/10
For food, I went with the Baja Fish tacos. These were huge pieces of battered fish with cabbage and a cream sauce on top with pico. Could have been saucier, imo. 9/10
My girlfriends got the huervos rancheros and the pollo burrito and loved their meals too! Oh and they give you free chips with a green salsa and omg they were so delicious! The vibe was super chill, they placed great music (early 2000s hip-hop), the waiters were super friendly. Would highly recommend!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 1, 2023
I've dined here several times over the years. It has never failed to delight me. The spice and heat levels may be a bit much for some people, but I love it! The calamari is my favorite, so I always check to see if it's on the menu. Fish and shrimp tacos are also good!

Great food and ambiance. Service was a bit slow and wonky, but all the servers were super nice. I think they were just understaffed. We had a table as far away from the door as you could get but it was still pretty cold and most likely of the women in our group ate with our jackets on. The guys were fine.
Will come back for the food if I'm in the area. Birria tacos were amazing! The best thing on the menu. The carnitas tacos and guacamole were also excellent. I had the Baja fish burrito which was just ok.
One thing to note is that they don't have a liquor license so their margaritas are made with sake and don't taste like margaritas at all. If you want margs with your Mexican food, this might not be the place for you.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Matthew T.San Diego, CA1972534Feb 18, 2023
Small intimate establishment that's perfect for a nice dinner before hitting the town! I would recommend reservations (easy to make on yelp!) since there is limited seating
We ordered the baja fish burrito and the pork shoulder. The fish had the perfect ratio and was exactly what we were looking for (8.5/10)! The pork shoulder for the price, I would've expected it to have a little bit more in terms of sides, only coming with the meat and a side salad. Nothing mind blowing, wouldn't order again. In addition we got the seasonal margaritas, the guava and the hibiscus. The hibiscus one was very tasty and would highly recommend, but the guava I'd honestly pass, did not have a prominent guava flavor at all.
Would come back and be excited to try other items!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1031661442Nov 18, 2021
I ventured out to Don Pistos because of a team building event and I have to say I was very pleased.
In all honestly, I was a little confused at where the entrance was because there wasn't a clear sign noting it, but because I had looked at photos on Yelp before, I was able to pinpoint the restaurant itself. We arrived basically for a late late lunch so there wasn't much people nor a rush.
I already had in mind exactly what I wanted - pescado tacos, but my group also ordered some fried chicken and queso fundido! I thought the food was divine. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy but what really made it a bomb dish was the habanero salsa - it gave it exactly the kick to make your taste buds shout for more. There's no better pairing than crispy juiciness and spiciness. The queso fundido was also amazingly flavorful. You got to build your own mini tortillas. The pescado taco also hit the spot for me. It was a nice combination of spiciness, tanginess, and freshness paired with the fish. Although it is only two tacos, if you pair with some appetizers, it definitely be enough! The only thing though is that you can't mix your taco types - like a carne asada and a pescado. Whichever taco you order, it comes in pairs - it would be nice to mix and match the tacos.
As I was there after the rush, the ambiance was definitely peaceful and comfortable. I'm not sure if anything would change during their regular brunch/lunch hours but I definitely will be back!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 21, 2022
I love dinner here, and now I also love the brunch.
We sat outside on the beautiful sunny day. As soon as we sat down, we were served chips and salsa. The green salsa has a little bit of heat but in a good way. The chips are thick and extra crispy, just how I like them.
We really liked the huevos rancheros in the crunchy circular taco shells. The potatoes on the side were also great, crispy on the outside and nicely salted.
The star of the show was really the breakfast burrito. This was incredible. Super authentic and delicious, I would definitely get this again next time! I didn't finish it so I heated it up the next day for breakfast and it was even better the next day.
Love this spot and can't wait to go back for brunch!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 22, 2022
Reasonably priced! Yay semi "bogie" Latin American fare w dishes priced below 20$. Nice Parket to bring your dog too w warm heating lamps- a must!
Located on a quieter side street in north beach, come with friends, order a margarita pitcher- and definitely try the chicken wing appi. If you're a taco fiend- and who isn't right?- tacos aren't cheap- 2 for 13$ BUT if you get 4 - viola dinner is served.l and you'll be full. I hate to say this - and this is just my thing- fresh made tortillas should be the standard -- but many places- including this one don't do fresh tortillas! Your fish and Al pastor tacos were excellent - and ooof-- paired w/ a fresh torillla - FIRE! They were okay too with your regular tortillas....
Mains: amply portioned and flavorful.
Worth coming back? Sure why not.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 4923311562Oct 1, 2021
HORRRRRRRIBLE service. For some reason the day I went, the staff mentioned that someone had booked ALL the reservations the whole morning. But...it looked like they never showed up...so I don't know why they didn't call to confirm or pass up their seats especially 45+ min into the reservation. They told me they didn't take reservations after a certain time, but for some reason they were holding it for this person who reserved it after that time...It literally made no sense and I don't even know why they bother to have an online Yelp waitlist option if they don't even use it.
When I was driving there I saw that there were only two parties in front on the Yelp waitlist and it told me to check in with the host. When I did, she acted like she didn't even know what it was! They told me the waitlist didn't even matter. No one took down my name or info they just told me to stand outside.
All I kept seeing were empty tables and people standing there waiting. I was so irritated that they had such an inconsistent terrible system.
When we finally got seated our server was so out of it. She never really came back for water, was confused about everything we were ordering. It was just an awkward experience. The burrito itself was good but definitely overpriced North Beach type of food. I didn't think the portions were as big as some of the other reviews claimed. If you have ever had a burrito in the Mission...then this is considered a small expensive burrito.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 82232614Feb 12, 2022
Food is pretty average. The bottomless menu is also average at best (although if you're just tryna get blasted, 10/10 would recommend)
