Service 5 stars, food 3 stars, value 1 star. Maybe the beer would have been good enough to add a star?
Great location, lots of space, and incredible service. Food was average, but high price for small quantity Had burger and kids had pizza. Very plain and kids did not want to finish.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jodi S.San Francisco, CA02Jul 6, 2024
Our party of 7 had lunch at Engrained today. We ordered burgers, sandwiches and salads. The food was ok, nothing great but the service given by Skylar was excellent. She went above and beyond!!!!

Second time coming here. This time was as good as last time. The onion rings were awesome and the filet was good a pretty good cut of meat. Pretzel sticks are amazing. Fish was decent and the beer was good. Our server was great! The place is very nice and a place you want to sit down and eat at.

Overpriced is all I can say. We came in because they had a special bourbon paddle which was ok. They advertised Whiskey Acres heavily in their promotion but only one of the four was Whiskey Acres. I ordered their Fathers Day BBQ special which was supposed to be ribs, brisket, mac n cheese and cornbread. For $38 we got four rib bones and one slice of dry brisket. My wife's horseshoe only had the equivalent of one chicken tender. Our ticket was $107 and we joked we could have gone to Mission BBQ and got three times as much food for under $50. I believe this is our last trip to Engrained.

Original Response to 04-Mar-23 Review: We definitely need to get better about answering the phone so we'll get to work on that. Our volume of business on Friday and Saturday night has forced us to change our reservation policy to ensure we can accommodate more people. I do apologize that in this situation we were not able to accommodate your group.
Mar 4, 2023Previous reviewWe usually love eating at Engrained. So when my wife picked a restaurant to celebrate her birthday with friends, Engrained was the first pick. That is until we tried to make a reservation. Do NOT rely on being able to call. We tried for multiple days to call and make a reservation for 15 people but NO one answered the phones. We finally ended up driving to Engrained to make the reservation in person only to find out they don't take reservations on Fridays or Saturdays after 6. I guess this is a new policy according to the hostess. However, they do, take online reservations on their website, but for groups under eight. Very disappointing from a restaurant we liked going to.

Will not return. The meal starters old pretzel sticks. They were hard and not very good. I had the Ruben, and there was not much flavor to the meat or sandwich. Beers are plentiful and have many locals on tap. Really the only reason to go there would be for that. Service was good.

Ring, ding, dong. Ring-a-ding-ding-ding-dong.
Hey you, working over there,
You better get up outta the back of the restaurant,
And work your way up front, as there's people waiting there for you.
So I got up and got my move on, got my groove on,
Sat in the best place in the house, the B-O-O-T-H.
In a brewery I go for a burger, so call me "Hamburglar"
As I call my crew: one is purple, the others a clown. Don't even judge us, just chill as I robble robble this meal down.
I keeps it real, why is this place such a big deal?
Still, the Fry Kids chase after me,
They wanna hear me & my thoughts about this brewery.
It wasn't that great or bad, more in the middle ,
Robble robble, know what I mean?
So check the words that I'm saying,
The Hamburglar, the one in the B-O-O-T-H,
Me and Ronnie say you should go back to the plan.
Reestablish yourself and be different from the rest.
Ring, ding, dong. Ring-a-ding-ding-ding-dong.
3.5 outta 5, now you know.

Ummmmm ... not sure how to respond to ... whatever this is. Unfortunately we can't tell how we failed to meet your expectations so we could try to improve.

We had a pleasant and enjoyable dinner at Engrained. All of the burgers, pizza, sandwiches, and salads were well prepared and tasty, and the beer drinkers enjoyed their brews. Our server, Mercedes, was skillful and unusually thoughtful. Of course, we'll be back!
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 23, 2017Previous reviewWe had a nice dinner at Engrained. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. The room was a little on the loud side - conversation was sometimes difficult. The burgers were juicy and tasty and the fries were quite good. My wife enjoyed the ham sandwich and accompanying salad. The pretzel sticks appetizer was also delicious with its pleasant dipping sauce. I'm a bit of a chocolate snob, eating only very dark chocolate, but found the Triple Truffle Chocolate Stout Cake to be absolutely scrumptious - one of the tastiest and most enjoyable chocolate desserts I've had.
