    • Q:

Now that the pandemic is over, is the dim sum served from carts or from a menu?

      A:

No carts, ordering from a menu is the most efficient. Thank you!

      Karen W., Business Owner
    • Q:

Are dim sum menu items served all day? or just lunch time only?

      A:

Our full dim sum menu is served every day during lunch. We serve only a limited selection of dim sum items (mainly a few kinds of steamed dumplings, potstickers, vegetable egg rolls, baked BBQ pork buns) as appetizers during dinner.

The dim sum at this restaurant is top-notch, but the roasted squab is truly outstanding! Perfectly cooked with crispy skin and tender meat, it's a must-try. Great variety and quality across the menu--definitely worth a visit!

      Roasted Squab (Whole) is amazing!

Great food if you're craving dumplings, family style, order come out relatively quick, inside is nice, but the view is the best when you can get close to the windows.

came here on labor day with a party of 5. we made a reservation in advance through open table and was seated immediately. highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as tables fill up really quickly!

the dim sum here is really fresh. the glass skin dumplings are really chewy, the puffs are really crispy, and everything is super flavorful in general. i see why this place is so hyped up now!

      food is good
      the staff are friendly
but the restaurant has stopped providing certain services like cutting the dimsum with scissors or providing individual servings of sauces, expecting you to share with the entire table, despite an automatic 18% tip or service charge for a party of six

I admit I sat here for a while debating whether to give Harborview 4 or 5 stars bc ratings aren't one size fits all. You can't apply the same standards to a Michelin star restaurant and a mom and pop shop because their purpose is vastly different.

On that note, Harborview is definitely attempting an elevated Chinese dim sum experience. It's located in a fancy building in Embarcadero, validates parking, and offers reservations + private rooms. The servers are dressed more professionally, the tables have white linens, and said tables are spread apart, relieving any sort of claustrophobia typical of a smaller shop. It's exactly where you would take your extensively large Asian family for a birthday or graduation celebration.

However, it's not quite at the level that we start to expect, forcing your expectations to fall short. There's the classic brusqueness and quick in-and-out service mentality that forces you to feel simultaneously rushed yet not attended. The dining hall is rowdy, loud, and honestly ugly in color palettes. While this wouldn't be noticeable or problematic at an "typical" Chinese restaurant, I can't help find the contrast dizzyingly stark.

Still four stars minimum because the food is no frills authentic and good. So glad they didn't try to unnecessarily jazz it up or gentrify it to match the location. Menu is extensive and prices are fair. I would recommend coming with lots of people to get the full spread and full experience.

      1 check-in

First time in San Francisco and was recommended this place by a friend. Amazing food - best dim sum with an extensive menu, all came out within like ten minutes. We got the congee, shumai, xiao long bao, sticky rice, spare ribs, chicken feet, shrimp crepes, and chinese donuts.

Everything was so good - so conflicted because I'm so full now and happy but want to eat more.

Make reservations online and ask for outside seating for a good experience!!

If you want both ambiance and good dim sum, this is definitely the place to go!!

What's even better is you can make reservations! We had an 11 am reservation on Sunday and got outdoor seating. The view was nice and the service was great.

The menu may not be as extensive but it has most of the stuff I love. The daikon cake was crispy outside with lots of flavor. Even though it's the simplest thing, it left me the most impression with its freshness and flavor!

I learned that they also offer dim sum at dinner which is great. I'm looking forward to next visit!

My friends like this place because there's never a wait even for large groups. The patio with the view of the Ferry Building on a nice day is so amazing. The food was good and satisfying. Expensive. But worth it for the convenience and atmosphere. This is what we ordered for three people and finished everything comfortably:

Pork and Shrimp Siu Mai (10) - You get four pieces
Har Gow (10) - for pieces
      Footballs (10) - three pieces
      Pan-fried Turnip cake (7) - three pieces
Deep Fried taro Dumplings (7) you get two pieces
Baked BBQ Pork Buns (10) - you get two
Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauces (12)
Rice Roll with Chinese Donut (12)
      Tea per person (1.50 each)

18% tax included and circled on the receipt.

Looking at these prices, yeah, this is giving tourist, but at least everything is good.

Back nearly 5 years later this time for dinner! Still as lovely seating as a remember and for dinner, the service seemed a little more elevated and very attentive. The food was presently nicely and overall the meal was pretty good.

Crab salted egg yolk flavor - flavor was great, the crab was not cracked and the tools supplies were not great and you kind of just give up after a while for the meat lol but the flavor was there.

Peking Duck - skin not super crispy but duck was juicing and all the fixings were there to complete the meal.

Sauteed beef with seasonal veggies - classic dish and the beef was tender. Solid dish overall.
