I've been wanting to try Nopalito for some time now. Mexican food + affiliated with Nopa restaurant= recipe for success. I knew it'd be good. While on most days when I crave Mexican food I want something fulfilling like a La Taqueria taco, or a La Palma burrito, this to me is a more healthy alternative to Mexican food. It is a new take on traditional Mexican food that uses sustainable and organic ingredients. If you are looking for a nice sit down Mexican restaurant that has good ambiance and outdoor seating, you need to try Nopalito.
We had a hard time narrowing down which appetizer to start with since they all sounded great. We shared the Tamal Enchilado de Queso y Puerco. The stewed pork was very tasty. For my entree, I had the Enchiladas Placeras. For some readon I was under the impression that the pan seared ancho chicken breast would be inside the enchilada. It was not. The filling of the enchilada was potatoes, carrots, and cheese. It through me for a loop for a second, but within a few bites of the chicken all was redeemed. It was the most delicious piece of chicken I have had in awhile. The skin on it was so savory and delicious. Overall the enchilada was a little dry, that would properly be my only qualm with it, I wish it had a little bit more sauce on top. We also ordered the carne asada which was a new special, also amazing. It was a thin piece of goodness. The server recommended eating a bite of the chili with it, it had my mouth on fire for a minute, but it did pair well with the food. The fresh corn tortillas that came with the carne asada were a little on the dry side, not the best I've had, but may be paired with a different dish like the Carnitas I would probably appreciate them more.
Another added bonus of Nopalito is that they have free parking since it's apart of Faletti plaza, and you can phone ahead to put your name on the list. I will definitely be coming back to try their lunch and more of their dinner options.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 17, 2024
I was really looking forward to coming here. I was sat right away and at 6 pm it was about half full, so not crowded or noisy . The staff are very attentive , and are quick to get the food to you. I settled on the ceviche tostada verde which was beyond a dream come true. I had a fruit horchata that was so tasty the cinnamon was so superb and creamy horchata with fruit was refreshing . We ordered one other dish that was slow cooked pork and it was beyond tasty. An incredible nice casual venue with notable food and great services. Highly recommend!

Super convenient ordering system with unique QR codes at each table and online payment. The food was delicious - I had the birria and highly recommend getting the flower tortillas with it! Their margaritas were tasty too, and the flan was the perfect ending to the meal. Highly recommend checking it out!

Came here for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There was surprisingly no wait. We sat on the patio and it was really cute.
I got the quesadilla roja con chicharron. It was so pretty and delicious as well. I love the crisp of the chicharron and also the tortilla of the quesadilla. The pork belly inside was tender and flavorful and I loved the cheese that they paired with it.
Overall, cute atmosphere and good food.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 3, 2023
A fun spot in the middle of San Francisco.
I came here after work on a Saturday night. I hadn't eaten much over the day so was quite hungry. The restaurant doesn't take any reservations so you either come at an unbusy time or roll the dice.
Since we didn't show up until 815 on a Saturday night (they close at 10) we got lucky and caught the dinner turnaround and were seated immediately.
The restaurant is an open layout with the kitchen easily viewable from anywhere in the restaurant. There's a bar that seats 7 or 8 and the restaurant subtly bleeds into a patio.
Here's what we ate.
1. Quesadilla Roja con Chicharrón - Mulato chile-corn tortilla, crispy pork belly, cascabel & guajillo chiles, jack cheese, queso fresco, onion and cilantro. This was probably my favorite dish. A crispy shell with a juicy, well seasoned,
2. Mole Poblanoon Poved - Braised half chicken, dry chiles, spices, plantains, ts, hoolate, sesame seeds, onions (contains peanuts) Mexican rice and tortillas. - a whole half chicken with tasty Mole sauce. Not too sweet and not too smokey. A subtle flavor that comes with delicious rice and as many corn tortillas as you want.
3. Trucha a la Plancha - Seared marinated trout, arbol chiles, braised butter beans, romanita and salsa verde picante. Possibly some of the best tasting trout I've had to date. A nice crisp to the skin and the butter beans are soft and have absorbed all of the flavor of the sauce. It also comes with unlimited corn tortillas as well.
4. Frozen White Guava Margarita - Pueblo Viejo Blanco, white guava puree, lime, Giffard Triple Sec. A fun drink with a good guave flavor. I recommend.
With 3 dishes and 1 drink , the bill came out to about $100 for 2 people. Probably enough food to have 2 people quite full. I would recommend as a "let's go have a nice meal that won't break the bank"Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - MJ S.Newark, CA011Jul 24, 2024
Came here around 6:00pm with a friend and put our name on the list; waited around 15 minutes for the table, which wasn't bad at all since it seemed pretty busy.
The lady that seated us was super nice. We sat inside and it was a really pretty room, lots of natural lighting and greenery.
You have to scan a code and order off of that and put your table number in, then they bring your food out to you. I didn't mind this since I'm quite the introvert :D Took about 15-20 minutes for the food.
Giving 5 stars because of the food itself. Super good and reminded me of something homemade, not rushed. Definitely tasted pretty flavorful.
Would come again if I'm in the area and want hispanic cuisine. Price was okay as well, it was about 30 dollars for each me and my friend in total but the portions were decently sized.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 19, 2023
Nice vibe at this restaurant and the food was okay but a little disappointed overall as the food was a bit bland for my taste.
We tried:
Carnitas - Dish comes with carnitas, 3 tortillas, some pickled veg, and green salsa. The carnitas were cooked super well, amazingly soft, fall-apart texture; however, I wish it were seasoned more heavily. 3 tortillas also wasn't enough to finish all of the meat. The green salsa was really fresh and tasty, would've loved a spicy red salsa as well
Taco arabe estilo Puebla - marinated pork in this was my favorite, and most well-seasoned, meat that we tried. Overall it was tasty but my gripe with this dish is that the pickled veg was hardly pickled at all, they were basically raw veg as a side
Empanada - Again, it felt like the beef in the empanada was under-seasoned and didn't really have much texture. Worth noting that it is not a traditional empanada pastry and the masa shell was more crumbly than crispy. I did like the cheese on top and the, slightly, spicy red salsa on this.
Overall, was disappointed with the lack of seasoning in the meats and veg.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 6295532Mar 14, 2024
Finally got to try this place while staying in SF. Pretty good options for Mexican food with a twist. The drinks were good and they have a variety of tequilas, if you're a fan. The service was friendly and very attentive. I had the huarache de huitlacoche and my husband had the pozole and wagyu steak taco.

So I did get food to go just had too long of a week so just recommended to me by an Uber driver and shout out to him!!!
The menu was not too extensive so I appreciate that I decided to go with the pozole rojo boy was it tasty I'll say it's not as tasty as the pozole from the market in Mexico City but I'm not in Mexico City!!!
I appreciate that they included all the proper accoutrement that is required for a proper pozole. Super great spices and flavors the cuts of meat were great I could have used a little more hominy but that's okay I also ordered a side of their homemade tortillas boy highly recommend those they were delish.
Also for a later on snack I got some chips and chose two of the salsas as shown in the pictures the pinky one I'm not sure if it's the medium or hot it's a little garlicky it's an interesting flavor the red one with seeds is absolutely flavorful and fantastic.
This restaurant does a great job with to go food it was packed up I have to say one of my top 5 to go packagingHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 856113Jun 5, 2024
Mexican food is always tough for me because my expectations are high.. but at Nopalito's price point its hard not to expect the best. Lets start with the wins: their customer service was great, food came out fast, the location is perfect, and the Guy Fiere poster in the bathroom is so fun. Where they lacked was unfortunately in the food. The tortillas were great but the chips were the texture of cheetos almost... very thick and grainy. These thick chips made a great base for chilaquiles tho! On the topic of chilaquiles, the egg was burnt. For t he pozole, the food was under-seasoned but I did appreciate the nice cuts of meat that were there! I just wished the broth was more rich and less oily? The carnitas were yummy, but at their high price point I expected a bit more food, or at least not cauliflower in the curtido... the salsa that came with the carnitas was too tart, it was like biting straight into a tomatillo. I understand, not everyone's tastebuds are the same and not everyone is looking for authenticity -- but for the price I definitely expected a lot more intent with the food. Would still recommend this restaurant because although its not my taste, I know many who love it!

I came with a group of 3 on a Tuesday evening and waited about 45 minutes for a table. If you're coming at prime time, be prepared to stand and wait outside the restaurant!
The servers are friendly, but were unfortunately not very attentive in our experience (we had to ask a few times for to-go boxes, extra utensils, etc.)
The portions are large! I'd recommend getting a few plates to split if you're coming with a group. The guacamole and rice were delicious, as were the juices - but I found the tamal de ayocote to be dry.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
