Very solid brunch spot! Came by on a sunny Saturday so we sat out in the atrium and had an amazing time. As a local this is such the perf location as we ate and then walked around 24th St.
We ordered the Cali Scott Salmon Benedict, Lemon Ricotta Pancake, and the Rustic Flat Omelet - all the plates are big in portion. Our fav was def the pancakes, they were so fluffy and it was a such a nice balance of the lemon citrus and the cheesiness of the ricotta. The other plates were really good too, super fresh and not too salty.
Would def stop by again for a cute brunch with my boyf or the girlies as the location is super walkable too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - skyy s.San Francisco, CASep 6, 2024
Not the best but not bad ! Went there on weekdays no line only best part was the pancake it's light and flavorful!! Even when you take it to go it's still tastes as good as eating at the restaurant.
Overall 4.5/5
For the sweet
But 2.5/5 for the savory
Not worth the price and taste bland
I don't whether the crab cake supposed to come out hot or no but it's not hot since it's crab cake so I would assume it's should come out hot (?)
But the home fries is great . All my friend agree on the bland taste they got on there dish
Service is not too pushy . Ambiance is nice since it's located in noe valley and the restaurant decorating is quite niceHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 19, 2024
Came here for brunch with my boyfriend and we both had high hopes after seeing the reviews and the line out the door every weekend. I ordered the Wake Up Sunshine which was soju and orange juice, which was very refreshing on a hot Sunday morning. My boyfriend ordered an iced chai latte with oat milk, but it ended up coming to us hot with whole milk. It took us a really long time to flag down a server to correct this because it's not what we ordered. They gave it back to us, but it was the same drink just poured over a glass of ice, so now it tasted extremely watered down and the milk situation was still not corrected. This was not a pleasant start of the experience, but we just decided to let it pass since it took so much effort to grab someone's attention.
For the food we ordered the lemon ricotta soufflé pancake and chilaquiles verdes to share. The chilaquiles were flavorful, and the potatoes were really crispy which was good. The pancakes were another let down since the middle was undercooked. I've had a ton of soufflé pancakes and they've never been basically raw in the center like this one was. The flavor was there but the texture wasn't in the middle, so we just ate the parts that were more cooked.
Overall I don't think I will be returning given the service and quality of the food for the price point.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 9, 2024
Only good things to say about this Pancake Boy! The menu is robust, food quality is excellent, and service is fantastic. Extra bonus points for having outdoor seating as well.
French Toast: A must try! It is sweet, a little savory, and with a crunch from the macadamia nuts.
Huevos Rancheros: Very solid and made with fresh ingredients. What makes PB's unique is that they have tostadas on top and bottom, which added texture and dimension to the dish.
Chilaquiles Verde: The verde sauce was the highlight of the dish, as it should be. The chips were fresh and there's egg at the bottom of the dish. My only criticism is that the pork was a little dry so I suggest asking for extra sauce on the side for it.

My friend and I went here one weekend. We luckily grabbed a seat outdoors, which was really lovely. We shared the PB's plate (3 buttermilk pancakes, 2 poached eggs, and bacon) and a side of breakfast potatoes. It was good! Nicely presented too.
My only gripe is that the PB's plate is $25, which imo is wildly expensive. Possibly similar pricing to the other popular brunch places in sf.. but still that's kinda wild when the eggs and bacon (2 of the 3 items) weren't that different from any other brunch spot. So I'm taking one star off for that bc it's GOOD, but I think it would have to wow me to be that much ya know?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 2024
Solid brunch spot, I enjoyed their savory items such as the huevos rancheros and their eggs Benedict
The sweet items didn't stand out to me (tried the red velvet pancakes and French toast).
The wait was not too bad, it tends to slow down after 12:30-1pm. FYI, they only seat full parties!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 7, 2024
Pancake Boy had so many yummy-looking items on their menu that it was hard to narrow down exactly what I wanted. We settled on getting the ube pancake, the chilaquiles, and a spicy chipotle chicken sandwich. The service was great here, everything came out pretty quickly and they made sure we had everything we needed during our meal. The chilaquiles were our favorite part - the chipotle pork was tender and marinated well and came with a side of scrambled eggs with tortilla chips mixed in, topped with cotija cheese and salsa verde. You can also choose to get a side of salad or fries. The plate was huge and very filling. This is not complaint against the restaurant itself, but this was my first time having chilaquiles and while I liked the flavors, I didn't like how the tortilla chips get soggy after a couple of minutes - next time, I would ask for it on the side.
The ube pancake was beautifully plated with fresh fruit on top, along with a scoop of ube butter, and then ube dipping sauce on the side. It wasn't overly sweet which we liked. While very good, it was unfortunate that the pancake was a little burnt on the bottom which made it a little more dry.
The chicken sandwich was interesting - while it was good, it was very saucy and messy. The sandwich is advertised as being "spicy" on the menu but it had no hint of spice that we could taste - if anything, it tasted more like sweet teriyaki sauce.
Overall though, we had a good experience here at Pancake Boy.Helpful 2Thanks 3Love this 3Oh no 0 - May 27, 2024
Perfect brunch. Great selection of Benedict's. I enjoyed the fresh lump crab benny. Large portions. Quickly seated and great service. Can't wait to go back. Everyone in the party loved what they ordered.

We've eaten here several times. Overall, the food is three stars, service is two stars.
As a public health nurse, I can't help but spot germy practices. I noticed the two waiters were bussing tables with disposable gloves on, and also bringing out freshly-made entrees from the kitchen with the same gloves on. This is unsanitary, at best.
I brought this to our waiter's attentions, and she acknowledged my concerns. Nothing changed though, and they both continued bussing and serving with the same dirty gloves on. Before we left, I noted that she kept serving with dirty gloves on. She informed me that they have limited staff, and they have no choice.
Will not return.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 3Jun 14, 2019Previous reviewAllow me to update my review on this spot.
The menu and name have changed. It's supposed to provide healthier options, variety.....
For starters we were given two dirty glasses for our water. Seriously, one glass had fingerprints on it, the other lipstick. WTF.
I ordered the Asian Sesame Salad, after the waitress shared it's her fave. It was disgusting. It tasted like something 1/2 step above Denny's.
The place is short-staffed and the waiters have a bad attitude, acting like they're doing you a favor by bringing you food you're paying for.
Not going back. Peace out, A. Fresh.Dec 24, 2015Previous reviewThe veggie omelet with pesto, kalamata olives, Romano cheese. Damnnnnn.
The banana mascarpone soufflé pancakes. Mouth orgy.
The fruit? Actually fresh and tasty. Ask for a side of avocado on your omelet. You'll receive slivers of avocado in the shape of a heart. You heard me. A heart.
The wedges and hash browns? Epic.
The veggie melt? A little greasy, but a real treat.
Fast service, amazing tastiness. Gititgirlll. - J S.San Francisco, CAJun 26, 2024
As a local, I've heard great things about The Pancake Boy, and I finally made a trip there this morning. The area is near the Castro and exudes a cozy, classic SF residential vibe, free from visitor hassles, which I really like. The crew was friendly and attentive.
We ordered by choosing dishes that other customers were having when we arrived. Everything looked so delicious, so we just pointed to various tables, and the results were fantastic. The ube pancake was well-balanced with sweet and fruity notes, while another dish featured a flavorful, spicy, and creamy combination of egg and other ingredients. Classic and chic altogether. We will visit here again very soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
