CUSTOMER SERVICE! Wow! Tony and Cathy, the owners, are great people who go out of there way to make the experience the best it can be! We arrived in the middle of a bridal shower, the place was a little chaotic, but Tony found our reservation, got us our keys and showed us to our room. A cute little room, with a fireplace, kitchenette and a jacuzzi in the bathroom. :)
There's only six rooms in the B & B and while we only know what ours was like, we got the impression that the others were just a cozy and clean.
The Pasfield is located about a block and a half from the capital building and right across the street from a visitors center, walking distance to most of the attractions in downtown Springfield.
Breakfast is left in the refrigerator in the room, just needs to be nuked and it's ready to go, there's a few different choices of egg things to choose from, and you preorder them online before you get there, but you also get muffins, fresh fruit and drinks in your room.
When we first checked in we couldn't figure out why there were DVD players in each of the rooms, but the first night we figured it out when we came back from dinner, there was a little library of movies on the landing on the second floor, so we grabbed a movie, and had a nice relaxing night in the room.
We absolutely recommend staying at the Pasfield House if you're in Springfield for a visit, the owners are great and the location was too!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Teresa K.Mooresville, IN03Jun 11, 2024
As is now clear from their website (updated after I booked), this is an event space; the so-called "boutique hotel" rooms are an afterthought. I booked based on reviews that spoke glowingly of the owners' hospitality. After booking, I was informed that management of my booking would be handled by a company in California (!) that, based on what I could find, specializes in short-term rentals for medical students. Upon arrival, the contactless check-in (keypads) did work smoothly, although we were surprised to find many workmen in and around the place. There is a separate entrance for overnight guests: a very steep and narrow stairway up which to schlep your bags. The front door was wide open for the workmen, and the main stairs open to the overnight room area. Sure hope the front door got locked overnight! Note that there are no common areas for guests; the main floor rooms are filled with catering tables and chairs. There was a lot of outdoor seating (for the events, of course), but it had an air of neglect, with cushions not cleaned, or on the ground. Not the ambience one expects when lodging in a historic home. The room itself was perfectly fine, although I selected it based on its private (I thought) balcony, which actually opened to another area the workmen were accessing via a ladder. The balcony also had a wadded-up rug, and the seating again appeared neglected and not ready to use. The kitchenette looked nice, but was useless without any advice on where one might buy provisions, or even a bottle of wine. And if your "boutique hotel" does not offer breakfast, some advice on where to obtain it would be much appreciated by your guests. In sum, if you're looking for a nice room near downtown and zero personal contact, this is the place for you! If you're looking for warm hospitality and ambience (as we were), look elsewhere!

On December 10th 2023 I had purchased 3 tickets for a brunch event at the pasfield house. I could not attend the event in person and phoned ahead to ask about a Togo food option. I was told to show up between noon and 1. I showed up at 12:20 to find they had ran out of food (maybe 5 pieces of French toast and 2 cups of berries left). I spoke to the owner to resolve the issue and she was very frantic and stated that the website stated "no refunds". To which I replied that the website also stated there was food, and also reminded her that I spoke with someone earlier and was told to show up and box up 3 brunchs'. She refused to work with me on a resolution and was told to just take the 5 pieces of toast and 2 cups of berries, leaving the remaining guests completely out of food. This is a very unsatisfactory handling of a customer complaint for a business in the hospitality industry. Out of $83 spent I walked away upset and hungry.

This place is great. I think there are new owners and they are redoing a lot of the house. The room we stayed in was immaculate. It had everything we needed and the hosts are as hands on or hands off as you want. Its a few dollars more than the chain hotels but worth every cent. If you are in Springfield you need to stay here. If we are ever back in Springfield, we will stay there again.

We stayed overnight here in early October 2017 and had a wonderful experience. We were shocked to be the only guests - this place is an undiscovered gem! Our host was very welcoming & accommodating. If you're ever in Springfield, do yourself a favor and check this place out!

I heard great things about Pasfield House, so when I called and spoke with Tony, the owner, and he had rooms available for the weekend we would be in Springfield, we were really looking forward to it. I then sent a reservation in thru the Web, and called him again to let him know I'd done so. I never received any type of written confirmation but had several long chats with him about our trip prior to coming. I even asked if he needed a credit card to reserve our spot, and he said no, that they are small and no need. He asked me to call his cell number when I arrived.
I called the DAY BEFORE our trip again, just to reconfirm, and he even said that he was able to move my party to a more desired suite. We both reconfirmed that I would be there the next day.
Imagine my complete SHOCK when we were one hour away from arrival and Tony called my cell to say. . "I don't know how to say this and I am really sorry, but I don't have a room for you.". I had called and confirmed no less than THREE times prior to our trip. He did apologize and seemed contrite, but that didn't help when it was 6 PM Friday and we had no rooms on a very busy Springfield Art Show weekend. To make matters worse, he said, "I will call you back in 15 minutes with some advice on where to stay. I will also make it up to you, I will give you a free breakfast'. We hung up and I never heard from him again.
I understand mistakes happen, and he did apologize, but worse, in my mind, is the fact that he never called back as promised AND we received no consideration for being massively inconvenienced. At the last minute I was able to find accommodations but with no help from Tony. My advice, get a written confirmation and call him several times as well to confirm. Inexcusable.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica F.Roanoke, TX01Apr 23, 2016
I booked this as a venue for my baby shower. I live in texas so I had to do everything via the phone. It was hard to get responses back and then when I would I often would have to start over in the planning process as details or large aspects (date) were forgotten. I paid and then they lost track of my payment and I had to prove that I made the deposit. This venue was a higher cost than others nearby but I loved the location and charm and thought it would be worth the extra money as many of my guests were traveling from several hours away. The staff was very overwhelmed with us ( we had an exact RSVP) and one of them was actually very rude. A few of my guests came up and mentioned that they felt uncomfortable asking for anything from her. We were there for 4 hours and then were kicked out. At no time did they explain that we needed to leave by a certain time and as stated many guests had traveled from hours away. We were not just asked to leave but very sternly told to get out-this was not a rowdy bunch- it was many elderly family members and a group of 30 year old women! It was so sternly communicated that several people commented that they couldn't believe the attitude as it was clearly a more upscale venue. We were also told that a few men ( my father and husband and brother in law) would be able to use the library during the shower to hang out and when they attempted were scolded and told they shouldn't be in there. Some of the guests also commented about the cleanliness of the dining room saying it contained cobwebs and a lot of dust as if it had not been properly cleaned in some time. After being ordered to leave we were dragged back inside to settle the tab which they had not figured out yet. So many guests waited outside to say goodbye to me (after being kicked out) because it took them 30 minutes to then calculate the tab for the shower. I had read glowing reviews of this place- not sure what happened but they were exceptionally disorganized and their customer service was the worst of any event I have ever done. I am disappointed to have paid so much for what we got and to have had many of my guests feel uncomfortable. The location is great and aesthetically it is a beautiful inn it is unfortunate that they aren't keeping up with it better.

Had a great time at the Pasfield House...Tony was leaving for a movie when we checked in, but more than happy to spend a considerable amount of time talking with us and providing information on restaurants, sightseeing, and just chatting. His suggestions were all spot-on and we had a delightful visit. The Pasfield House was inviting and our room/apartment was huge and comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing and watching a movie, having WAY too much food for our in-room breakfast, and enjoying a quiet and cozy night/morning. We'll definitely stay here again.

I recently hosted a reception at The Pasfield House, and it turned out beautifully! Tony and Cathy were fabulous to work with, and provided everything we asked for, and more. The home is one of the most elegant I have ever entered, and is a true Springfield treasure. It is obvious that Mr. Leone put his heart and soul into the renovation of it. I'm sure you will be most satisfied if you rent this lovely home for your event. Everything from the food to the flowers was fabulous! Thank you, Tony and Cathy! Your bed and breakfast must be wonderful, as well.
