Oh my! I love the Feed Store. It is definitely a Springfield landmark. I have been frequenting this place since we moved to Springfield when I was 13 and my mom has been coming here since she was in high school.

I would argue this is THE place to go for lunch downtown. They are only open for lunch, M-S, but it always packed during this time. My personal favorites are the chicken salad on a croissant, the prairie turkey on french, the bagel with veggie cream cheese and the lox bagel. Yum! All of these are amazing. Everything is made fresh-the bread, the veggie cream cheese, the chicken salad-which is oh my god good. It is the creamiest I have ever had. It's more than likely insanely bad for you-but oh well, it is worth it once in a while. Their soups are a must. I love the cream of broccoli, wisconsin cheddar, the gazpacho, the mushroom bisque-basically all of them. If you can, save room for dessert. The cheesecake is delicious, as is the apple cake, carrot cake...mmmmm.

The atmosphere has been the same since they opened according to my mom. Dark-kind of classy-wall paper, dark wood tables and chairs in this huge open room. When you get there you stand in line, place your order, then are instructed where to sit. They give you the end of the ticket with your number on it. When the wait staff walks around with your order, they yell out the number. "Number 98!". You raise your hand and are delivered a little bit of heaven. Seriously, this place is that good! If you are in the area, check it out!

The food was delivered earlier than it said and it was great. The mushroom soup is divine. Will definitely get that again!! Pastrami sandwich was a little fatty and certainly not very meaty but still a great experience overall.

Right next to the historic Old State Capitol; this is a local favorite. Soups, sandwiches and dessert - this is a lunch-only restaurant.

The atmosphere is charming, though it's not a big place. Large groups should try to go elsewhere.

Make sure you try the Wisconsin Cheese soup.

We were in town for an event at the BoS Center. We decided to go to The Feed Store with our little group of 10 or so. We had terrible service by all but two employees. My daughter was stared down when she attempted to move her chair to sit beside our group. The male employee (the cashier in maybe his 30's) actually yelled at her. On top of that, our soup was served to us cold. I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting a pleasant lunch experience or good food. I only left one star because there was no option to leave zero stars.

Always the best sandwiches and soups! I especially like the tomato soup. It is a great place for a casual lunch. It is always pretty busy, so not the best if you are in a big hurry! Also, it'd be better if you did not have to order at the counter.

Always a stop when I'm in town. Soup and sandwiches have remained amazing for a decade. Forever a favorite!

Neat place historically. Service was very cold and distant. Not personable. Felt like I was being herded like cattle. Chicken salad was average but good. Had mushroom bisque soup. No better than Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup. Very thick and somewhat bland. Certainly worth trying if you are in the area.

This place was really a nice gem our group found. We left the Lincoln Museum and wanted a nice light lunch. Our hotel recommended this place. We got there about ten minutes before closing and they took our group of 7.

The food was good. The sandwiches were ok, nothing to write home about but the soups OMG were absolutely amazing!!

I had the mushroom bisque and it was wonderful. I also tried others from my party. The wisconsin soup is to die for. It tastes like a liquid grilled cheese sandwich, it's amazing. Loved the service and it wasn't expensive.

Go, nice lunch and a nice break from shopping and touring.

Wonderful atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and excellent food. Soups are very good, sandwiches are high quality with great ingredients. Extensive options without being too big of a menu. Very affordable, especially considering the quality. We will be back.

I am required by law to come and eat here when in Springfield. In fact, I will alter my schedule some way, some how, to eat here more than once.

Love the mushroom soup. Chicken salad sandwich was very good.

Never had a bad meal. Highly recommended.
