One year ago, we had the best pot pie ever at the Gage. Does anyone know if it's still on the menu?
A:
Hi Doug, we are so happy to hear you enjoyed the pot pie! Our menu changes constantly with the seasons -- right now the pot pie is not on the menu, but may make a reappearance sometime this winter.

What a great Sunday brunch!
Our food was fantastic, the drinks were great, and the mocha - which I ordered by mistake! - was the best I've ever had, chocolate-y but not sweet
To top it off, our server, Sydney (sp?) was phenomenal: lots of fun, helpful, and attentive without being intrusive.
This was our first experience at The Gage but it won't be our last!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 15, 2024
Lovely experience at the Gage recently! A great all-occasion spot with a menu that has something for everyone.
It would be remiss to not talk about the decor- the interior is made up of beautiful dark wood and adorned with chandeliers offering ambient low lighting. Before getting into the food, a huge shoutout to our servers- they were some of the most professional and skilled I have come across and created a wonderful experience.
We started with a courgette tart and this was definitely the highlight for me- the crispy puff pastry filled with sautéed zucchini and basil aioli was a light and outstanding start! Definitely don't skip that seasonal highlight if you come across it. Next was a garden salad with champagne dressing- it made for a light, simple precursor to the rest of the meal.
For the entree, we had filet mignon served with a side of scalloped potatoes and wow! The steak was super tender with a great flavor, cooked perfectly in a nice garlic butter sauce. The scalloped potatoes were creamy and tender, and sides of roasted potatoes and garlic green beans were flavorful. Just as a personal preference, the veggie dishes were a bit under salted and al dente for me (this was really my only note across the board for an otherwise really outstanding meal).
We finished with a crème brûlée cake for dessert. It was super moist, not too sweet, and layered with whipped chocolate & vanilla crème under a classic crunchy top. Seriously, save room and don't miss this.
Will definitely be back and can't wait to try more of the menu!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Karma M.Chicago, IL5090423Sep 5, 2024Updated review
Hard to judge bar food since it's all the same. But it's good overall. Good cod fries, bar food. Better than most.
My homie got me my first pub scotch egg and it was different along their really creamy goodness mashed potatoes, yukon gold of course, which is also what I use when I make em.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 4, 2021Previous reviewHard to judge bar food since it's all the same. Came for a quick bite after church while exploring downtown. Sunday at 11am for brunch--got a table outside right away. Good service, pretty quick. Prompt water refills.
Ordered a salmon bagel off the brunch menu. It comes completely deconstructed so you can build it yourself which is nice. It was actually great to split for 2 of us, for a lighter meal. Very fresh & flavorful.
Sister in law got the yogurt parfait: "Best yogurt parfait of my life!" Had a nice citrus flavor to it mixed in with berries and jam. Amazing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 25, 2024
Consistently good food for dinner and lunch AND brunch! This time I got the avocado toast- I never ordered this in restaurants because I feel that it is a waste of money, but this one was incredible. The avocado was more like guacamole and the pickled red onions really added to the dish. The most reviving post wedding brunch I've ever had.
The atmosphere because it feels historical and timeless . It's just a great spot whether you are doing a date night we're going out with family or have a business lunch.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 7, 20241 check-in
I took out dinner from here on a Saturday night. Venison burger was my main item. It was a good flavorful burger. I think beef one would have tasted better. It came with a good amount of fries. I also took a side of rice, which was just plain rice. The place looked very expensive and classy.

Stopped by for a solo lunch after visiting The Art Institute. 5/5 for the service. Staff was attentive and went above expectations (I asked for extra ketchup and got 3 cups instead of 1, also they left a carafe of water at my table).
However, just got a simple burger and it was very basic/unmemorable. I think if you're gunna have a burger at a fancy restaurant, at least make it good. This didn't have any distinct taste, flair, seasoning, etc.
Not opposed to coming back again because the menu looked good and the staff was excellent, just do not recommend the burger.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sep 7, 2024
We came for brunch on a Saturday and good thing we had reservations because boy was it busy! My poached eggs on pork belly were pretty good but lemon ricotta pancakes should have packed more bright, acidic flavor. My "hot" coffee was completely lukewarm which is a surprise given the demand for coffee during brunch hour. My server was nowhere in sight, but luckily I was able to find a manager who could remedy the issue and get me piping hot coffee. If I am in the area, heading to the Bean or millennium Park, then this is an option, but with so many excellent restaurants in the city, it's hard to say I will be back for brunch anytime soon if I am not in the area.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were immediately seated. We ordered drinks, the wheat raspberry beer and a perfectly poured Guinness.
For starters, my husband has the Scotch egg. It looked perfect and he loved it. My watermelon salad was the best salad and frankly obscenely delicious.
The coconut curry with rice was a little spicier than I would have liked, keep in mind that I'm a bit of a wuss with spice. The fish and chips were top notch. The fish was so crispy on the outside and flakey but almost buttery on the inside.
Service was fantastic.
The restaurant was quite warm overall. It made my husband nauseous which made it tough to enjoy dinner. I recommend sitting in the bar area, as it was much more cool and open.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 27, 20242 check-ins
Drinks were really solid. The bar program is well developed. The drinks are well developed and completely flushed out. I would definitely grab a drink here. Food was pretty good too. It's right by the park and museum so it's in a prime location. We were here twice. The first night the service was weak, but on the second night we sat at the bar and all was well.
