As Dr Traore explains, his institution made a strategic choice to send INPHB students to #SU to learn English instead of a university in the global North. “Our vision is to promote South-South cooperation. Our choice fell on South Africa, as a country of #excellence, and #SU was our preferred institution." The #partnership between SU and INPHB seems set to grow going forward. “Our main vision is to go beyond language learning and extend this to broader collaboration between our faculty and SU's Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences through student exchanges," Dr Traore says. “We would also like to create research exchange programmes between academics of the two institutions." Congratulations to the entire QS ImpACT team joined by ASU Next Lab, University of Exeter and QS Quacquarelli Symonds on the launch of Skills Challenge - SDG Game Design last week! A big shout out to all the partners who recognize our mission to offer free accessible education towards games for good and are providing invaluable resources and time to these young people- hyperPad, Unity, Minecraft Education, J.P. Morgan. We were mind blown to have over 1009 students sign up from across the world - over 24 countries and 58 universities between them. I feel excited for the opportunity of digital learning spaces and how they can help break barriers or engagement and education. All the best to the over 200 teams creating games towards the SDGs in their communities this summer! 𝐒𝐔 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐐𝐒 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 Stellenbosch University (SU) features in the top 300 tertiary institutions in the world for the second year in a row. This is according to the latest QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings released on Tuesday, 4 June 2024. As was the case last year, SU performed outstandingly in the citations per faculty category (number of academic citations produced by faculty members) by achieving the highest score (61.9) of all South African universities. This is also an improvement on its previous score of 59.9. Since citations (references to academic work in other scholarly articles or publications) are a well-understood and widely accepted measure of research strength, this indicator assesses the impact and quality of the scientific work produced by universities. Our Global Learning Unit looks at how we can create impactful and authentic global learning experiences for all students that pass through SU. We want to ensure that the experiences available to all students, both inside and outside the classroom, result in learning outcomes that are innately different from what they will get anywhere else.
