Ho-hum this movie is dumb

Let's not beat around the bush, this movie was ordinary - and I'm being nice. It didn't even have glimpses of brilliance. It was let down by bad direction, and bad acting by many of the cast. Though Brice Bexter did a good job for his character, it still wasn't enough to bring some quality to the movie.
Apart from bad directing, it needed a solid script, and the editing could do some work. Plus the action sequences, where appalling. It never gave me a sense of danger nor stress in the situation the main characters were in. It failed to convey the uncertainty and the horrors of being in a fire fight in close quarters. The Rambo movies were more realistic compared to what this movie could muster. And Rambo movies were not that realistic.
Too many flaws in the movie to mention, but you get the picture.
VERDICT: Watch it if there isn't anything else available. Or maybe just take a nap instead.

Some great talent here but this movie ...well...it's a joke. Great story line that was lost in what was most likely horrible writing and even worse directing.
They should have saved their money
Can I get a refund please

Unoriginal Plot
stevendbeard10 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I saw "Redemption Day", starring Gary Dourdan-CSI:Crime Scene Investigation_tv, Alien:Resurrection; Serinda Swan-Ballers_tv, Tron:Legacy; Ernie Hudson-Grace and Frankie_tv, Dragonball Evolution and Andy Garcia-Geostorm, Let's Be Cops.
This is a low budget action movie that has an unoriginal plot; the hero's wife is taken by the bad guys and he has to go in and save her. Gary plays a Marine that has been through a traumatic event during a firefight, so he keeps having bad dreams & flashbacks to the incident. Serinda is his archeological wife that goes on a supposedly safe dig site but-of course-ends up getting kidnapped by nearby terrorists. Ernie plays Gary's father and Andy is a US ambassador. The action is a little slow to start but it is adequate when they finally get going, just nothing out of the ordinary. There is a scene near the end of the movie with a semi famous actor-he was in a tv show called Prison Break-that has mysterious ties to the C.I.A. and it looks like it could be a set up for a sequel, but I doubt it. I don't think this movie will make enough money to warrant a sequel.
It's rated "R" for violence and language and has a running time of 1 hour & 39 minutes.
It's not one that I would buy on DVD but if there isn't anything else to watch, it would be alright as a rental.
Unexpected comedy

We have never laughed so much while watching a movie which was supposed to be action 😆. The acting was something... And the storyline was sooooo predictable. It was all so slow and weird. Like the switches between scènes were kinda random sometimes. If you want to watch it, the scènes where they are shooting, some People fall down screaming as a Patrick star fish wannabe. It is a good laugh! But wasn't worthy of the 6 euro we spend on it...
Worth watching

Dont understand all the bad reviews, I gave the movie a shot and dear me, just loved it. Andy Garcia, as always, majestic. The story seems like a " Déjà-vu" but the Director, a young Moroccan 🇲🇦 guy won't give you the time to have a break to think... SUPERBE
A Spectacular Debut!

My goodness,
I watched this movie based on the global ranking without further reading the other reviews. Was this the mistake of my life ! This over-rated no-Rambo bull_+%¨* movie is really bad: bad acting, no feelings or emotions of getting faster to his wife to release her, after 60' minutes nothing happened unless some flashbacks, the fighting is really crap and script is worthless.... Really not worth your time to look at this.
Very bad, a lot of talking and unnecessary scenes to watch that don't upgrade the movie to a higher level.
Really bad.

I Actually Feel Bad for Cameramens

I mean after 10 minutes into the movie i know it is going to suck and started to fast forward. My god when i saw Samy Naceri as leader who is muslim live in africa, speaks french but also has english dubbed over his mount very very badly i lost all hope for that movie. Very very very bad acting, slow moving action (fi you can call that action), nightmares which try to be bad war experience however they looked like 10 year old children first time playing cod; i mean he throw grenade at bad guys at some point just by standing just in front of them like 3 seconds while taking the pin out. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME !!!
So bad

VIEWS ON FILM review of Redemption Day
burlesonjesse522 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"The gentleman we are dealing with is crazy". OK, that's established. So why are you calling him a gentleman? Are you giving him credit for being a meshuggana?
Anyway Redemption Day is a thinking man's actioner with raw performances that only unleashes its action in the last half hour. Don't worry, said action still sticks. Oh and the brute one-liners and machismo are a hoot too ("I've been practicing on the weekends", that refers to shooting).
In Redemption Day, the protagonist (Gary Dourdan as Brad Paxton) becomes a veritable Chuck Norris with some visible badassery. Also in Redemption Day, the antagonist is a Christoph Waltz lookalike who doesn't have a nice bone in his body. He actually threatens a female character that if he doesn't get 10 million bones in ransom, he'll kill her and her unborn baby. Yeesh.
Redemption Day is about a Marine who attempts to rescue his wife from a terrorist organization stationed in Algeria. The film while cleanly story-lined and gleamed in its lighting, is a slickster version of Zero Dark Thirty and Argo. Take heed though, "Day" doesn't have the Academy Award values of the flicks previously mentioned. It's more TV movie-influenced with some serious CNN remnants and a Call of Duty whiff.
"Day" has a cast consisting of Andy Garcia (acting like well, Andy Garcia), Ernie Hudson (he's from my neck of the woods so I had to mention him), and Martin Donovan (acting like his normal, smarmy self). Redemption Day is also filled with long tracking shots, wide shots, a Mexican standoff, a head-scratching twist ending, and obligatory, thriller spy music. It's the type of film Micheal Bay would make if he was deciding to go art house. Whatever. Redemption Day is still worth "saving" for a midnight rental. It's okay to seize this "day".

Just seen all the negative reviews, and then all the 10/10's
It's not a 10, but it's not a 1!!!!
Do people forget that movie production has been restricted because of the pandemic??? You won't get a film like before, until out situation betters, enjoy what is available!!
It's good, the action is constant, and dynamic music plays everytime we see a convoy or a car from a far when driving anywhere 😂
Wouldn't be surprised if there was a sequel

Redemption Day

Captain Brad Paxton's (Gary Dourdan) is a decorated Marine who served in Syria. He is also haunted by the events during his tour there.
After he returns home. Paxton's wife Kate (Serinda Swan) goes on an important archaeological dig in Morocco.
However she is kidnapped by ISIS type terrorists and held for ransom. The US government drags its feet as it might ruin an oil deal. So Paxton goes on a rescue mission.
This low budget action movie is low on any meaningful action. The lead actor is bland.
This turgid movie needed several high octane action scenes. It delivers a poor one at the end. Most of it is in the dark.
The film wants to make important points about cynical diplomacy and the influence of oil. It fails at all levels.
Andy Garcia and Martin Donovan are wasted.
