Season 2 has depth!!!
nikhil-tanwar00129 October 2020
A lot of people might argue about which was the better season and has better engagement. Trust me, second season has more storyline than just violence and sex. Everything is well written and well executed. Though you might feel that the twists and turns are somehow predictable at some point but it has created a strong base for the upcoming season.

Season 3 is utter trash!!
valyriansteel-683496 July 2024
My rating for the entire series dropped significantly after watching season 3. Season 1 was top notch, Season 2 was watchable. Season 3 is utter trash with extremely boring and inconsequential sub plots. Pankaj tripathi has no presence, Shwetha bores you to death - she's the most unfit for the role in the entire series. With the unforgettable bad boy Munna's death in Season 2, macho man's Guddus role is wasted with petty scenes. Jail scenes with Guddus father are worth skipping entirely. Sarad Shukla character is total BS, he neither knows to act nor his role is interesting. The never ending CM/ political scenes have no meaning whatsoever. Last but not the least in terms of criticism, is the mega boring Bihari family with twins and a dwarf father make you hate this series so much that you longer want to wait for any more seasons ever. My rating was 9/10 until season 2. Season 3 is just a disappointment after waiting for so many years. We can call this once gem of a series good bye.

S3 is darker and more intense than ever, yet substantially dragged and undercooked
istiaqe-896186 July 2024
Overall rating of the three seasons is 7, before season 3 it was a solid 8... Season 3 is a whole new Mirzapur with new leads and atmosphere. It's darker and more intense than ever, yet it's substantially dragged and undercooked, with the writing and underdeveloped character arcs being the main culprits. This is absurd because these aspects should have had the prime focus, considering that most lead characters from earlier seasons were missing or not prominent this season. It has its moments, but that's just it. Sadly, it's a letdown. By the way, there is a post-credit scene in the last episode. Don't miss it!

Spell Binding Story-telling. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. (Humble advise to not compare with other series)
AtaraxiaVinay29 November 2018
Question: How good is this series? Answer: I finished the series in one marathon session of 7 hours. That good!

Question: Apart from a few well-known names, is the cast worthy of justifying their role(s)? Answer: You would be stunned by the acting. The actors are as good as the script. There are more number of pivotal characters than there were in "Sacred Games". You would be pleasantly surprised that all of them have been given enough screen-time and none of them are unimportant. What an ensemble! Wow!

Question: Is it better than Sacred Games? Answer: First of all, we MUST NOT compare the two series. "Crime", "Thriller", "Action" are the common genre between these two series. However, Mirzapur has done tremendous justice to it's script and carved out a niche space for itself. I had watched Sacred Games just a week before Mirzapur and after reading the panning reviews of Mirzapur, I decided not to watch it. One of my close friends - Sasi, told me to forget about the review(s) and give the first episode a try. I would like to quote him here: "It is far better than the number of stars the critics have awarded." HE WAS DAMN RIGHT. Sacred Games has used the terms of ancient Indian history (or mythology, whichever word you would like to use) to narrate the story. Mirzapur doesn't have that level of narration - Yes! ... But you would be gravely mistaken to take this point against Mirzapur. Each and every episode is gripping with sometimes gory and sometimes an undertone of humor which would never let you feel enervated. All the actors have done a phenomenal job. The women have been given lots of freedom. The documentary(ies) which BauJi keeps watching frequently, has 100% relevance in the context of the episode and the series. Everyone knows about Pankaj Tripathi's prowess. He doesn't need further introduction (nor do the others), but I would like to mention Guddu (Ali Fazal) as a revolutionary character. The way he has portrayed his passion for body-building, his dumb-wit, his self-assured and self-serving bias; it will blow the viewer away. After watching a few episodes, I had started to wonder if someone can be really so eccentric and so blind due to self-obsession. He just cares about how to live through the current moment in time, nothing else. In my humble opinion, I think that every character is a shade of different level of narcissism. Just visualize, how could a writer conceive the idea of so many narcissistic characters. ;-) If I ever meet Guddu Bhaiyya (Ali), Munna Bhaiyya (Divyendu Sharma) and Bablu Bhaiyya (Vikrant Massey), it would be extremely difficult to imagine them as a different person than their portrayal.

I would like to quote my friend again: This series is far better than the ratings you would come across on various critics' web pages.

The only reason I wrote this first-ever review on IMDb is because I could not digest the admonishing and panning of a beautiful work done by these fine actors and writers (and everyone involved in the project).

This is the kind of story, we always wanted to see, and was always missing.
abhiakssingh18 November 2018
Disclaimer: I am from Uttar Pradesh, who lives in Bangalore. Except for acid attack, they have covered everything in the underbelly of Uttar Pradesh.

I have given it 10 start rating. Why? Because I could connect way more than its other state viewers. As game of throne, takes its inspiration from medieval Europe, this series takes its inspiration from Uttar Pradesh of 90's and early 20's (Notice the name of CM brothers for reference :P).

Now, I have grown up in that kind of environment. But, is there any form of art which has reflected it succinctly. Omkara or Ganges of Wasseypur came close, but even they tried to tone it down a bit, and acceptable for silver screen. Producing a content for digital medium, has an edge that, they didn't have to be politically correct, just to please people - and thus tinker with the spirit of the story.

That perhaps was the best part, and I watched all the episode in a single session. A pure nostalgia. From the comfort of my room here in bangalore, I was reminiscing through my childhood. Yes Uttar Pradesh is violent. Uttar Pradesh values power. The meaning of word "Bahubali" is different there. But, Uttar Pradesh is not dull state. There is a cohesion amongst all, which makes that state lively, vibrant, and politically charged. A spectacle for someone who is watching it all from a comfortable distance - not too close to get your hand burnt in it.

And this series, gave you that very experience. Keep up the good work.

Don't trust the critics on this one
nkknishant717 November 2018
I write this review after watching all 9 episodes and reading god awful critic reviews about how predictable the story line is and how gore and violence doesn't let it fly. Don't listen to any of the critics on this for sure because this show is anything but predictable.I myself am an avid fan of cinema and have watched stuff across many genre and can testify that this is a new and original show with characters, dialogues and storyline to die for.Every review that you read will praise Pankaj Tripathi, even the bad ones and he deserves it but i guarantee you that have never seen 'Ali Fazal' like in this show and for me he stole every second of his presence and even scenes with Pankaj Tripathi.

Bhaukal Mirzapur
Theceatorshow23 October 2020
Some idiots are trying to defame and Criticize this show just because Ali faizal was in favor of Protest.

To all those idiots people, Are you watching movies or shows because of story, Acting, Direction, Dialogues, Emotions, expressions or just because if actor or actress believes in same ideology or not.

This show is truly masterpiece. Even Season 2 did not disappoint me at all.

If you truly appreciate the art and artist then you should watch this show.

If you are not in favor of Ali Faizal's ideology then go and criticize him on twitter.

What's the point in boycotting such a wonderful show??

Disappointed with the Season 3, Till Season 2 Where are the Charms of Characters
syedahsan-7724118 July 2024
I put it straight and short.

Season 1, the legendary story about the Mirzapur as we all know, gore and intense action with Hard metal story, acting, writing and Dialogues.

Season 2, More players added with elegant performances by Dadda Tyagi Amazing Persona, Guddu Pandit, his appearance was Gigantic, the ecstasy of gaining the Reign of Mirzapur the throne and Vengeance with Munna.

Till Season 2 this TV show was Awesome.

Season 3, New Players, same game, the throne of Mirzapur, and the battle of two puppets, unnecessary meetings for Gaddi.... Why they have only concentrated on the Last episode and ran too fast so showcase us there is a Hope of Season 4, Where is the charisma of Dadda Tyagi and the man who brought down the power of Tripathi and his family even Munna, Guddu Pandit, he was looked tired, a patient, I don't understand Did they miss something, there was a huge gap between season 1 and season 2 for Guddu, may be they did not clearly watched well the previous seasons before making this season 3 for Guddu Pandit. Sorry I was totally disappointed, Few scenes were nice but for the whole I give this rating and hoping for the best for the upcoming season...

Fall from decent watch to boring and going nowhere
harmeet-mehta8 July 2024
Season 1 was promising with all the lead actors like Divyendu, Pankaj Tripathi & Ali Fazal in good form. Even the supporting actors did well.. It hd too much unnecessary expletives than needed but still was watchable.. Divyendu was the star of season 1.. Rated S1 8/10

Season 2 was disappointing compared to Season one but still was watcahble.. Again it was unpredictability of Divyendu's Munna Bhaiya and Pankaj Tripathi that kept the tempo up.. Ali Fazal was nowhere as good as S1 and introduction of Tyagi's dint help much.. Rated it 6/10

Season 3 is a disaster. Did expect it to lose steam since Munna Tripathi was killed and he was the best part of Mirzapur.. But the worst part was relegating Pankaj Tripathi's Kaleen Bhaiya to the background.. The story became so convoluted. This season doesnt deserve a 4/10 at best..

Disappointing !

The Only Person Who Deserved To Die in Mirzapur 3 was the Useless Golu Gupta !!!
cs_rahul_prasad6 July 2024
The distance that the surviving gangsters and their accomplices and rivals traverse in Mirzapur Season 3 is considerable. But the tools and tropes that the Amazon Prime Video crime show employs in the new tranche of ten episodes remain firmly within familiar parameters.

The reign of carpet exporter and crime boss Akhandanand Tripathi alias Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) has ended in the lawless badlands of Purvanchal. Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) is now the top dog in the titular crime-ravaged town. Golu Gupta (Shweta Tripathi Sharma) is his partner in crime. But the gaddi (throne) is shaky. Guddu isn't the undisputed King of Mirzapur yet, which is why the impetuous and impatient contender frequently lets provocations get the better of him. Ill-advised moves and overly cocky stances land him and Golu in situations that snowball beyond their control.

The threat of a determined, scheming vengeance-seeker Sharad Shukla (Anjumm Shharma) looms over Guddu and his gun factory. A battle of attrition ensues despite the chief minister's avowed mission to rid the region of its violent gangsters. Mirzapur S3 has markedly less tensile strength than the first two seasons. The fact that it is much more of a slow burn than usual is not, however, necessarily a drawback. In fact, it opens up room for several startling and intriguing narrative sleights.

Kaleen Bhaiya, hors de combat for the most part, is in the middle of a slow recovery from coma. But even when he is back in harness, the imperious, temperamentally volatile man is only a shadow of his own self, harping on gaddi and parampara (tradition).

Mirzapur S3 is co-directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the sole behind-the-scenes creative talent who has been involved in all three seasons, and Anand Iyer. They ensure that the script, written by Apurva Dhar Badgaiyann, Avinash Singh and Vijay Narayan Verma, does not stray from the white-knuckle ambience originally envisaged for the Excel Media and Entertainment-produced crime show.

Divyenndu's Munna Tripathi is obviously missing from the scene and Pankaj Tripathi's centrality (large parts of his footage has the character in a supine state) is substantially reduced. Ali Fazal solidly carries the show on his shoulders.

Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Isha Talwar, Vijay Varma and Arjunn Shharma stepping up to the plate as individuals engaged in or witness to, the battle for Mirzapur.

Rajesh Tailang and Anil George (as the profit-obsessed opium supplier Lala) - one of the two imprisoned patriarchs helps inmates write mercy petitions and bail pleas, the other pines for freedom for himself - also deliver strong performances.

And amid all this, you'll often find yourself hoping against all odds for Munna bhaiya to be back, infuse some much needed flashiness and eccentricity to the plot and save the day. He was truly a superman without a cape - wielding a gun, unapologetic in his advances and always ready to hurl expletives. In short, what's Mirzapur without him and his lackeys screaming, 'Laal phool, neela phool, Munna bhaiya beautiful !!'

gauravawasthi-8626816 November 2018
I want to say sorry to the team of Mirzapur because I make a perception that its going to be a copy of a movie but boy oh boy I was so wrong. I thought that I will watch one episode every day but was unable to help myself to watch all 9.This is my first time giving rating numbers or writing review to anything so I was compelled to do it. At last Thank you and many congratulations and best wishes to the entire team of Mirzapur.

Its a nice attempt. There are a few sagging parts but still is a good watch. Something very different from the usual dramas, tried and tested formulas. There should be a season 2.

Season 3 was just a filler season
opotraining7 July 2024
There was hardly any progress in season 3 from season 2. Few characters die and rest is filled with meetings. There were so many meetings of bahubalis. Each episode is dragged a lot without much progress . Only the last episode has something to watch. They just created this season as a filler to next season.

Munna is surely missed in this season. Without him the season is dull. Kaleen baiya also has very little screen time. Guddu was ok and did not have much action. Golu was irritating everytime she picks up gun and gives dialogue. They even made the character of Robin boring this time. Sarad, bade/chote are just ok. Guddu s dad story is also extended for no reason.

Bho*di wale Chachaa finally took revenge.
Hmnsu199424 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Season one was epic. But season 2 was quite slow in parts. The build up given to the every character was unnecessarily deep. So compared to season 1 this one is time pass. You can binge watch it for an awesome acting of every character. This show is not at all afraid of killing its character. Kaleen Bhaiya should've been more violent but he is totally non violent and shown only as good trader. At last best scene was when chachaa took revenge.

Overhypes can destroy content!!
Muhammad-Qureshy7865 July 2024
Season 3 was by far the worst you can get from this OTT franchise, Boring story, unnecessary long dialogs and relationships, new characters dose not have strong background, Pankaj tripathi does not have that much role in the series, Revenge is missing and Beena and Radhiva are very irrelevant in the series. Not sure what's the purpose of Goly as she always doubting Guddu.

Overall, you can pass this one, folks are not exited as last time due to lack of story and direction where all is going. Munna bhaiya was by far the best character of the story and they killed is in S2 and now S3 has to bare that burden.

Many folks will disagree with me but that's cold hard facts that this series went downhill in S3. A hard pass.

Ankita_Ss199216 November 2018
Watch it if you're interested in knowing the inner workings of eastern UP's socio-economic and political structure. Everyone is aware of how Mumbai underworld used to operate, watch it if you're interested in knowing how bahubalis of eastern UP operate.

Performances are great though plot is very predictable. Not much suspense, still somehow keeps you hooked till the end. With the exception of rasika duggal's character, all other female characters look weak. Binge worthy though!!!

Gangs of mirzapur
kunaldalmia3117 November 2018
After sacred games this is big ticket web series to lure indian audience by amazon prime . Mirzapur is fabulous in many ways . Screenplay is gritty and tension filled, Editting is crisp. Direction is first rate . Whole web series has earthy feeling with local dialogue. while watching audience will feel they are in mirzapur.

Pankaj tripathi is fabulous,he is so underrated deserves more screen space in bollywood . Vikrant messi is dependable but the real revelation of mirzapur is ali fazal and devendu singh. as hot headed son of kalim bhaiya devendu has amazing screen presence. I feel bollywood will notice immense talent of this actor. Ali fazal mostly played urban guy with comic touch till now. Mirzapur gave him chance to play gangster first time, ali catch up and perform brilliantly as series progresses . Politician yadavji and lawyer pandeyji is first rate and add immense value to series. More of such series need to be made watched and appreciated. Waiting for second season to come out soon
