Graves' website highlighted the following campaign themes:[149]

  • Obamacare and healthcare
Excerpt: "Obamacare comes with a $1.8 trillion price tag over the next decade. This law is a massive expansion of government that will, according to a study by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), result nearly 500,000 lost jobs. Rather than forcing Americans out of their jobs and further involving itself in our personal health decisions, the federal government needs to get out of our personal lives."
  • Veterans
Excerpt: "Our veterans deserve the very best. And as a member of Congress, I will work tirelessly to ensure they receive just that. Throughout my career I have had the honor to work with service men and women around the world on a variety of military issues. I will use this experience to best serve our military and veterans in Congress."
  • Budget and spending
Excerpt: "Our national debt has increased by over 60 percent (to over $17 trillion dollars) during the Obama Administration – with no end in sight. America does not have an income problem, we have a spending problem. With reforms in Louisiana, I was able to increase productivity 500 percent. We will do the same in Washington. I am the guy the career bureaucrats and bloated government contractors are going to hate."
  • Education
Excerpt: "For the U.S. to continue to thrive, it is essential that we transform our education system by truly allowing the states to reform our schools. Our education systems need to provide multiple tracks for hard-working students to succeed. This includes college and graduate school, as well as trade schools."
  • Second Amendment and wildlife
Excerpt: "I respect our hunting and fishing laws, the important role of conservation, and I believe that the right to bear arms is fundamental to what it means to be a citizen of the United States."
  • Immigration
Excerpt: "Effective immigration policy in the United States is not possible without secure borders. It is critical that we close the border, provide border patrol with the tools to enforce current laws, and increase our efforts to expedite deportations. We must enforce our existing immigration laws. For what is the paper that our laws are written on worth if we do not adhere to them in practice. We need to stop providing welfare and government services to those that are here illegally and fail to pay taxes in America."
