Biography
Paul Hodes earned a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College in 1972 and a J.D. from Boston College in 1978. His career experience includes working as a renewable energy and net zero redevelopment consultant.
Hodes has served as a member of the National Council on the Arts and as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Kittery Dance Hall and the Story Preservation Initiative. He has also served on the Advisory Board of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics and the Rudman Center.[1]

I served two terms as US Congressman from New Hampshire's second congressional district, (2007-2011). I am an attorney, entrepreneur, consultant to businesses and not-for profit institutions and a musician. After graduating from Dartmouth College in 1972 and Boston College Law School, I began my career in New Hampshire as an Assistant Attorney General in the criminal justice division. Prior to my congressional service, I practiced law as a trial and entertainment lawyer. I was elected to Congress in 2006, and became the President of the historic 2006 freshman class. I was the first member of Congress from an early primary state to endorse then-Senator Obama for President and served as his 2008 national campaign Co-Chairman. I currently host "Off The Record With Paul Hodes", a weekly radio program on WKXL Am and FM focusing on politics, arts, culture and life-style. Throughout my career I've devoted substantial time to community service and advancing the arts in New Hampshire.I was appointed by President Obama to the National Council on The Arts .I have worked professionally as a producer, playwright, actor, songwriter, recording artist and musician, earning Parents Choice awards for groundbreaking family music. As the first Chair of the Capitol Center for the Arts, I helped lead the Concord community's efforts to create a premiere, award-winning performing arts institution. With my spouse of 41 years, Peggo, we have two musical kids and live in Concord, NH.

The First historical event that made a deep and lasting impression on me was the Cuban Missile Crisis. I was eleven years old. For thirteen days, October 16 - 28, 1962, the U.S. and Soviet Union faced each other down in a confrontation that would be the closest the world came to nuclear annihilation during the Cold War. I remember vividly the confusion I felt and the fear that surrounded the entire affair. I was afraid the world was going to come to an end.

The disparity in numbers. New Hampshire has the fourth largest legislative body in the English speaking world after the US Congress, the British Parliament and the Indian Congress. The NH House of representatives has 400 members, the Senate 24, all in a state of about 1.3 million residents.
