Biography
Rick Lopes earned bachelor's degrees in English literature and sociology and a master's degree in social work from the University of Connecticut.[1] Lopes' career experience includes owning a business.[2]

Lopes won a special election for District 24 of the Connecticut House of Representatives on January 10, 2012. He defeated Peter Steele (R) and conservative former state senator Thomas Bozek (I).[8]
