Ya Liu (Democratic Party) is a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 21. She assumed office on January 1, 2023. Her current term ends on January 1, 2025.

Liu is also a member of the Cary Town Council in North Carolina, representing Ward D. She assumed office on December 12, 2019. Her term ended in 2023.

Liu (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 21. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. The Democratic primary for this office on March 5, 2024, was canceled.

Biography

Ya Liu lives in Cary, North Carolina. Liu earned two doctoral degrees in sociology and law. Her career experience includes working at Duke Law School as a faculty member and owning a small business. Liu was elected to the Cary Town Council for District D.[1]

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
