(July 23, 2024) Top Senate Democrats ruled that policies with majority support meant to target the toxic and cancer-causing chemicals known as PFAS were outside the scope of a major health care bill passed last week, before making a commitment to take up PFAS-related legislation before the end of formal sessions July 31.

Sen. Michael Moore filed two amendments to the omnibus health care reform bill that the Senate passed last Thursday to move toward sunsetting firefighter gear that contains the so-called “forever chemicals.”
