A class apart: Ed-tech sector steps up hiring as online learning booms during pandemic

There are around 20-25 ed-tech firms valued at $300 million or more, according to strategy consulting firm EY Parthenon.

    Synopsis

The companies have also been witnessing steep growth in business for the past six months, as thousands of new users signed up for online courses amid the pandemic that kept schools and coaching centres closed. This is encouraging them to introduce new products, expand to more markets and step up hiring.

New Delhi: The pandemic is turning out to be a big boon for the ed-tech industry.Companies providing online education services are growing fast and are among the most active in the job market, at a time when most other businesses are cutting jobs or are on a hiring freeze. Half a dozen of the top players in the space are expected to induct more than 13,000 people over the next one year, according to their hiring plans shared with ET.Market
