The All India United Democratic Front President and MP Badruddin Ajmal termed the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) as Jumla.

Ajmal while talking to media persons said, “Abrogation of article 370 what has changed in Kashmir rather situation has deteriorated. Triple Talaq according to Prime minister Narendra Modi and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was the biggest problem of Muslim. I challenge you to gather one lakh people of triple talaq and you will not find more than three victims. They like harassing muslims.”

He said that does Muslim women only have this one problem. “How many schools and colleges have come for muslim girls? Has the government made provision for pension for triple talaq. The biggest problem is single talaq. Scholarships for Muslim students are stopped.” He said that UCC is another jumla and nothing substantial will happen.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Indian government shall bring UCC. “We are working to put an end to polygamy. UCC basically deals with polygamy and women’s equal rights over property. I believe that Muslim women are lacking behind in today's society, and I am of the opinion that polygamy and women equal rights over property is a pending issue for the last 75 years and needs to be solved during this Amrit Kaal".
