Regulators and policymakers should proactively follow technological developments to predict innovations and manage disruptions effectively. “We believe all stakeholders including various sectoral regulators, central government, state governments and local bodies should help to work in sync and facilitate development of telecom infrastructures in all parts of the country,” he said while speaking at the India Mobile Congress 2021.

5G will require some formal sector arrangements to seize the opportunities offered by 5G and new technology by promoting startups, entrepreneurs and use cases.

All these initiatives will encourage digital innovation, incentivize development and use of new technology for the benefit of society. Besides, it will attract much needed investment, Vaghela said.

“We need to foster consumer interest and limit any potential unintended negative consequences by providing an enabling regulatory and policy regime. We are in that age where we will see a new generation of mobile communication in less than 10 years,” he said.
