In his Facebook post, the collector said that the aspiring nurse's father succumbed to Covid-19 last year and she was unable to continue her studies due to financial constraints despite scoring 92 per cent in her intermediate examination.

As part of the 'We Are For Alleppey' project, he contacted several colleges for a management seat as the deadline to apply for the merit seat had passed. He was finally able to secure her admission to a private college (St. Thomas Nursing College, Kattanam) in the district.

"I could see hope and confidence in her eyes. So, we decided to ensure her all assistance as part of the We Are For Alleppey project," he wrote in his post.

When the authorities were looking for someone to sponsor her studies, Teja thought of Allu. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, the officer contacted the Tollywood superstar seeking help and he readily agreed to the same.

"...Called our favourite movie actor Allu Arjun for the purpose and as soon as he heard the matter, he agreed to meet the entire expense of studies, including the hostel fees, for four years instead of one year," the collector's post said.

Teja accompanied the young girl to get admission the next day. "I am sure that she will study well and become a nurse in future who will take care of her mother and brother and will do good to the society," he added.

The officer concluded his FB post by thanking the actor, the college authorities and others who supported the cause.
