Dior artistic director says style not only about clothes; takes fashion cues from David Attenborough

A director at a major luxury label looks up to the style of a 93-year-old natural historian who wears the same clothes nearly every day. How does that happen in a world that puts youth and looks on a pedestal? Read on. “I don’t think style is only to do with clothes; it’s about personality,” says Kim Jones , men’s artistic director of Dior, in a recent interview.

Jones’s style icon is not a footballer or a movie star, but Sir David Attenborough, the legendary conservationist. He says, “I love that he just wears chinos with a blue shirt, wherever he is in the world, and I’ve always wondered how many of each he travels with.” This is one fashion industry boss you cannot accuse of being superficial.
