A day after the attack on Indian Air Force personnel in Poonch district of J&K, the armed forces detained several locals for questioning. The armed forces continued cordon and search operation in the forest area and pressed in helicopters for aerial surveillance.
Additional Director General of J&K Police, Anand Jain, and senior officers of the Army and Intelligence agencies visited the ambush spot in Surankote area. The officials informed that a group of at least three attackers had targeted the Air Force detachment convoy in Shahsitar area before they vanished into the thick forests nearby.
"Questioning of several locals is going on to trace the track the terrorists used to reach the mountain top from where they carried out the attack," said an official.
