LK Advani admitted to hospital again days after being discharged from AIIMS

Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani was admitted to the Apollo Hospital on Wednesday night, sources said. This comes days after the 96-year-old former deputy prime minister was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after a night-long stay there.

"Advani is stable and under observation," a hospital source reported. "He has been admitted under Dr. Vinit Suri, a senior consultant in Neurology." The source added that he was admitted around 9 pm.

Details regarding Advani's ailment were not immediately available. He was undergoing treatment in the department of urology.


"He was treated under Dr. Amlesh Seth and was under observation," hospital sources said.

Who is LK Advani?
Born in Karachi, which is now in present-day Pakistan, Advani holds the distinction of serving as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the longest duration since its establishment in 1980. Concluding a parliamentary tenure spanning almost three decades, he held significant roles as the Home Minister and subsequently as the Deputy Prime Minister in the cabinet of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee (1999-2004)

Advani's political career began with his association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a swayamsevak in 1942. He entered the parliamentary arena in 1970, getting elected to the Rajya Sabha. His first Lok Sabha election in 1989 saw him winning from New Delhi, defeating Mohini Giri.

The honour to BJP veteran former deputy prime minister LK Advani was conferred at his residence.

Earlier this year, President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, upon veteran BJP leader LK Advani. The ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other senior leaders, took place at Advani's residence due to his declining health.
