A travel advisory was issued by NYC Emergency Management on Friday. In the morning, the snow started to fall in the Big Apple, and within the time of the precipitation moving out, over half an inch of snow fell across the boroughs of the city. According to reports, 0.4 inches had fallen in Central Park.
The snow has activated a ground stop at the Reagan National Airport in Washington temporarily. Deicing fluids were sprayed in the aircraft which were leaving, for the removal of ice and snow, causing delays.

Measures taken due to the snowstorm

According to FOX Weather, 80 flight cancellations were underway from Reagan National Airport with schools deciding to shut down most of the D.C. region. Nearly 55 school districts either closing down for the day or at least postponing their time of commencement. An aircraft small in size was compelled to do an emergency landing on a snow-filled road on Friday close to Dulles International Airport outside of Washington. The reason behind the emergency landing on Loudon County Parkway has not been clarified yet. There was snowfall constantly, however, it was very early to determine if the weather played any role in the situation.

The Federal Aviation Administration will be entrusted with the responsibility for the investigation of the occurrence.

A daily snowfall record was set by the Dulles Airport at 4.9 inches. As per the officials, at nearly 12:51 pm, a call was responded to by Virginia State Police about a private, small aircraft that made an emergency landing in Loudoun County Parkway in the DIREX lanes.
