The average ticket to Europe now amounts to $1,100, while flights to Asia average over $1,800. Compared to last summer, this represents an approximate increase of $300. For a family of four, the expenses for flights alone could exceed $4,000.
However, there is some positive news to balance the equation. Domestic flights within the United States are currently 19% cheaper than they were last summer. Furthermore, the most recent CPI report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics reveals an overall 8.1% decrease in airline fares from May to June.

These findings suggest that opting for domestic flights can be a more affordable choice for summer getaways. On the other hand, international travel may present a costlier proposition this year.

It is important to consider that although domestic fares have decreased, other components of summer travel continue to exhibit higher costs.
