The presentation underlined the importance of these projects, and that once the National Industrial Corridor Development (NICD) Programme is fully developed, it would cover the entire country with world-class industrial cities, all connected in a seamless manner for the movement of goods, services and people. It was here that the seeds of Gati Shakti were sown.

In October 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multimodal Connectivity. But it all began with a presentation made to him on an isolated Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) proposal for the approval of the Krishnapatnam and Tumakuru nodes of the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and the Freight Village and Multimodal Transport Hub at Boraki near Dadri,
