India imported 2 lakh tonnes of pigeon peas (toor dal) since the crop year began in August 2020. The stock was polished and exported to the Middle East and also sold in the domestic market. What is strange here is that India is the largest producer of this commodity in the world, yet it had to import the legume to export it. It seems the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. This is considered an admirable trait in philanthropy
