Dr. Badawy is a pediatric hematologist and his primary area of interest clinically is sickle cell disease. Dr. Badawy's major research focus relates to health services and outcomes research, in particular the development and the implementation of technology-based behavioral interventions to monitor and improve medication adherence, quality of life, and other patient-reported outcomes in adolescents and young adults across chronic health conditions.

Dr. Rossi is a metabolic pediatrician and his primary interest are inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs). Dr Rossi’s major research focus relates to the development of novel monitoring and management strategies for patients with IMDs. In particular he is member of the Carbohydrate, fatty acid oxidation and ketone bodies disorders (C-FAO) subnetwork of the European Reference Network for Hereditary Metabolic Disorders (metabERN) and clinical investigator in several clinical trials on innovative therapies for IMDs.

Dr. Serlachius’ research programme aims to develop cost-effective and scalable digital health interventions to improve psychological and physical health outcomes, with a focus on youth with chronic health conditions. Her work is increasingly focused on developing and testing digital wellbeing interventions for youth with diabetes.

Prof Grace Irimu is a paediatrician and the Chairperson of Department Paediatrics and Child-Health, University of Nairobi. She holds a PhD in Public Health. She is a Professor of Health Systems and Quality Improvement. She is a Health System Researcher and implementation Scientist with expertise in developing and disseminating evidence-based clinical-practice guidelines (CPGs). She has been instrumental in introduction of the CPGs in the pre-service medical institutiosn and scaling the same in the Kenyan hospitals. She had done collaborative health systems research with KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme. She has been a trailblazing leader in improving the quality of hospital care for sick newborns and children. Prof Irimu was recognized by Lancet, a leading international scientific medical journal, as one of the most influential doctors in Health and Medicine in 2021’s Black History Month.

My primary areas of research interests are prevention of neurodevelopmental problems among vulnerable infants including preterm infants and low birth weight infants. Particularly I am interested in studying how parenting and other biopsychosocial factors will likely affect the neurodevelopmental outcomes of these infants, as well as developing effective targeted interventions. Another research area is parenting stress and parenting burnout among children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
