Tata Altroz Racer becomes India's fastest hatch: Enters India Book of Records

Tata Motors recently launched the much-awaited Altroz Racer in India. Not long after its debut, the sporty hatchback has already earned the prestigious title of India's fastest hatchback. This model has now officially been named in the India Book of Records, a feat confirmed by the manufacturer across its social media handles.
The record-setting feat was achieved by Narain Karthikeyan, the country’s celebrated racing driver.The Altroz Racer clocked an impressive 2 minutes and 21.74 seconds for a lap at the CoASTT Racing Track in Coimbatore. This lap time outpaced the Hyundai i20 N Line and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo.

At the heart of the Altroz Racer is a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, borrowed from its bigger sibling, the Nexon. This powerhouse produces 120 hp and 170 Nm of torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Altroz Racer is available in three striking variants – R1, R2, and R3 – and comes in Pure Grey, Atomic Orange, and Avenue White with prices starting at Rs 9.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Altroz Racer, locks horns with the i20 N Line, which is available in the price range of Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 12.52 lakh. Another notable competitor is the Maruti Fronx, equipped with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, with prices ranging from Rs 9.72 lakh to Rs 13.04 lakh.
