The model, priced from Rs 6.49 lakh, ex-sh, witnessed a significant 12 percent YoY growth as it sold 19,393 units last month as against 17,346 in May ‘23.

Next up, the Maruti Suzuki OG tallboy, Wagon R, secured the second spot with the sales of 14,492 units. This is a substantial 11 percent decline as compared to 16,258 units sold in the year-ago period. It comes at a starting price of Rs 5.5 lakh, ex-showroom.

Completing the all-Maruti podium was the company’s premium hatch, Baleno. However, the model witnessed a significant 31 percent decline in sales with 12,842 units sold as against 18,733 units sold in the corresponding month last year. It comes at a starting price of Rs 6.66 lakh, ex-sh.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto stood at fourth spot, having sold 7,675 units in May 2023. This was an 18 percent decline from the 9,368 units sold in May 2023. The Alto is one of the most affordable cars in India with prices starting at Rs 4 lakh, ex-showroom.

Tata Tiago became the first non-Maruti Suzuki model on the list. However, this model also indicated a decline in hatchback sales having witnessed a 27 percent drop in sales. Tata sold 5,927 units of the Tiago, dropping from 8,133 sold in May 2023. It is priced from Rs 5.65 lakh, ex-sh.

Hyundai Grand i10 sales dropped 17 percent YoY as the company sold 5,328 units last month as compared to 6,385 sold in the year-ago period. This model is priced from Rs 5.92 lakh, ex-showroom.
