Headmaster in Tripura dist suspended for physically punishing female student
Agartala: On the instruction of CM Dr Manik Saha, district education officer of Tripura’s Unakoti district on Thursday suspended Binay Priya Chakma, the headmaster of Depacherra SB School in Pecharthal, for physically punishing a female student on June 28. According to the suspension order, the Rights of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 prohibits ‘physical punishment’ and ‘mental harassment’ under section 17(1) and makes them a punishable offence under Section 17(2).
