Agartala: A local court in Tripura’s Khowai district on Wednesday remanded a 45-year-old labourer, who was charged with raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter over the last three months, in police custody. The man was arrested Tuesday, reports Biswendu Bhattacharjee. A sub-divisional police officer on Thursday said the accused admitted to the crime but details are still awaited.
Police have taken steps for due medical care of the girl, who has suffered trauma and is psychologically affected. However, the level of her problems and injuries can only be ascertained after medical tests and forensic investigations, he said.
According to the report, the girl didn’t want to return home on Monday after being released from school.
