At 44.1ºC, Ahmedabad gets some respite from heat
Ahmedabad: After reeling under intense heatwave for about 10 days, Ahmedabad got some respite on Tuesday as the city’s maximum temperature dropped by a degree to 44.1°C, remaining 2.2 degrees above normal. On Monday, the city had recorded 45.2°C.
Ahmedabad was the hottest weather station in Gujarat, despite maximum temperatures dipping across most parts of the state.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heatwave conditions prevailed at isolated pockets in the Ahmedabad, Kutch and districts of North Gujarat in the 24 hours ending 8.30am on Tuesday. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 29°C on Tuesday, settling at 0.8 degrees above normal. Maximum temperatures are expected to drop by two to three degrees over the next five days, according to IMD.
The humidity levels in Ahmedabad settled at 66% in the morning hours on Tuesday and reduced to 28% by evening.
According to the Met Department forecast, south westerly to westerly winds are blowing at lower levels over the region.
“The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 44 degree celsius. Discomfort conditions due to hot and humid air very likely to prevail over coastal areas of Gujarat region and Saurashtra-Kutch till Wednesday,” the IMD forecast states.
