Age is just a number: Senior citizens in Gujarat defy stereotypes to satisfy wanderlust
AHMEDABAD: If you thought life slows down when you cross 60, senior citizens in Gujarat are out to prove you wrong. Trading rocking chairs for plane tickets, slippers for hiking boots and an afternoon nap for a stroll on a foreign shore, an increasing number of adventurous seniors are turning retirement into the perfect time to explore the world, proving that age is just a number when it comes to satisfying your wanderlust.

Travel agents in Ahmedabad and across Gujarat have noticed a surge in bookings from senior citizens eager to embark on new journeys. Whether travelling as couples, singles or in groups, these elderly adventurers are embracing the joy of travel with open arms.
Take the Jain Lotus Group from Ahmedabad, for instance. This year, 1,178 of their members booked tickets for trips to New Zealand and Australia in different batches over three months. Around 70% of these travellers are over 60 years old.
Mukesh Shah, the 67-year-old past president of the group, shared that their foreign tours, which began 11 years ago, have become a huge hit.
