GV Rajesh assumed the role in 2022
BENGALURU: The sudden removal of GV Rajesh from the post of BJP state organisation secretary, has cast uncertainty over the party’s recent Lok Sabha election performance. Rajesh, 39, an RSS pracharak, assumed the role in 2022. He was removed from the post on Sunday and was instructed to return to the home organisation. This has triggered much speculation within the ranks.
Party sources attributed ajesh’s premature departure to a mixture of organizational and personal issues.
One functionary implied that Rajesh’s removal stemmed from dissatisfaction with his performance, citing the party’s setback in assembly elections and lacklustre Lok Sabha campaigning. Others indicated discontent over his handling of coordination between BJP and Sangh Parivar. Speculation is rife that Rajesh was at odds with new office bearers of the state unit, and it contributed to him being removed.
But Rajesh himself said he wants to pursue academic interests and had made his intentions clear to the party beforehand. He said both the party and the Sangh Parivar had requested him to wait until the completion of the Lok Sabha elections in the state before relinquishing his responsibilities.
Rajesh will now engage with RSS unit of Samarasya, a wing which focuses on oppressed castes and their advocacy for social justice. Sources say the party may not immediately fill the vacancy; appointments may be contemplated in two or three months.
Although not mandatory, RSS functionaries have held the state organisation secretary role for the past decade. Sources say BJP is planning to sever Sangh Parivar’s involvement entirely in the state unit and will opt for an “in-house” functionary for the position.
