Bengaluru students performed exceptionally well in the International Baccalaureate exams, with two achieving a perfect score of 45 points. Sohan Tarigopula and Krish Singh from TISB are set to pursue their higher education in prestigious universities. Other students from Greenwood High have also excelled, with Nidhi Iyengar and Arya Nagaraj securing 44 points each. Despite allegations of time-zone cheating, educators confirm that the results remain unaffected. The Indian students have surpassed the global average scores, showcasing their dedication and resilience.

BENGALURU: When the International Baccalaureate results were announced on Saturday, students in Bengaluru schools excelled with at least two of them, securing the maximum 45 points.
Globally, 1.92 lakh students wrote their Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) exams in May 2024. The global average DP score is 30.32 points.

Sohan is all set to join Brown University for his programme in health and human biology. "While growing up, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. This left a big impact on me. I started pursuing cancer research from grade 8 and continued ever since. The interest in healthcare and pre-med started since then and, has grown as a passion. My research has also been published in the prestigious Journal of Emerging Investigators twice," said Sohan. He is an IRIS National Fair winner, gold medal winner, representing India at Eskom International Science Fair, and a grand finalist at the global International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Sohan, who would be flying out on July 30, said he is looking forward to the new experience and continue his journey in the medical field.
Krish Singh is joining University of California, Berkeley for business and aerospace engineering programme. "I had met an astronaut, who told me to reach out to the stars. That interaction was really inspiring and I wanted to become an astronaut ever since. This finally led to the aero space engineering degree," said Krish.
Two students from Greenwood High have secured 44 on 45 points (Nidhi Iyengar and Arya Nagaraj). Nidhi Iyengar will be pursuing biological sciences at Johns Hopkins University and Arya Nagaraj will pursue pharmacy at University College London. "Students have done well, and met their college aspirations. This cohort was in the most vulnerable school years during Covid and, it's inspiring to see their journey back to resilience. IB results are substantially above global average," said Kavita Gupta, head of school, Neev Academy.
"The average of all subjects has gone up, with most subjects having an average of above 5 out of a maximum seven," said Sarojini Rao, principal, Indus International School.
This years' IB exam was marred by allegations of time-zone cheating. However, educationists said that it has not impacted the results.
