BENGALURU: Former CM and BJP veteran,
BS Yediyurappa said he will appear before Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on June 17 for an inquiry, following his return to Bengaluru on Saturday. His statement came a day after the HC stayed a non-bailable warrant against him, in connection with a Pocso case.
“I had gone to Delhi for a pre-scheduled programme. I had informed in advance in writing that I will appear for an inquiry on June 17.
The high court has given an order, restraining CID (from arresting). I’m appearing for an inquiry on Monday,” said Yediyurappa. He said that the ongoing Pocso case against him caused ‘necessary confusion’, and that he will legally face it.
“Time will decide everything. People will know the truth and will teach a lesson to those conspiring against me,’’ said Yediyurappa, who has been booked under the Pocso Act and Section 354 A (Sexual harassment) of the IPC, based on a complaint by the late mother of a 17-year-old girl, who alleged that he molested her daughter during a meeting on Feb 2 at his residence in Dollars Colony here.
Union minister Pralhad Joshi criticised the state govt for its handling of the issue, accusing them of orchestrating a conspiracy against former chief minister. BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai echoed similar sentiments, denouncing the case as a conspiracy against Yediyurappa.
