'Hi tiger, hi boss': Kannada actor Darshan in tears after meeting wife, son and pal at Bengaluru jail

BENGALURU: Actor Darshan, who has been arrested on charges of the murder of his fan S Renukaswamy and is lodged at Central Prison, broke down before his wife Vijayalakshmi and 15-year-old son Vineesh, who met him in prison for a few minutes Monday.
Darshan’s actor-friend Vinod Prabhakar, son of veteran actor Tiger Prabhakar, also met him in prison.
Vijayalakshmi and her son came to the Central Prison premises in her SUV.On noticing mediapersons at the gate, she took a U-turn and approached Parappana Agrahara police seeking their help in reaching the prison entrance.
Police officials responded to her request considering her privacy and took her in their vehicle. According to sources, Darshan broke down soon after seeing his wife and son. He hugged them and they spoke for a few minutes. Vijayalakshmi briefed him about moving his bail petition at the earliest.
Vinod Prabhakar later told media, “We didn’t talk much. After he saw me, he said, ‘Hi Tiger’ and I replied, ‘Hi boss’. Then there was silence and I left. As a friend, I came to see him... the law will take its course in the matter.”
Four taken to court
Police investigating the murder case have written to the income-tax department to probe the source of the money seized from Darshan’s house and other accused persons. Police have seized Rs 70.4 lakh in all till date.
Cops took four persons working in the vehicle parking shed in Pattanagere — where Renukaswamy was allegedly beaten to death — to court and recorded their statements before a judge. Police are also verifying call details and messages sent by Darshan and other accused in the case. They are yet to question Mohan Raj, who is said to have given Rs 40 lakh to the actor after the incident.
A police officer said: “We are yet to approach Instagram seeking details of Renukaswamy’s account. Since we didn’t get his phone, we need to extract data from his social media account.”
