BENGALURU: Five men, claiming to be ‘brothers’, visited Holenarasipura MLA from JD(S) HD Revanna at Central Prison, Bengaluru, reveals a reply made by prison officials to a Right to Information (RTI) query.
However, they are not his actual siblings. Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda has four sons and two daughters. The sons are Balakrishna Gowda, HD Revanna, HD Kumaraswamy and HD Ramesh.
But the names entered in the visitors’ column on May 9 are Puttaraju, Darshan, Chandrashekhar, Paramesh and Hanumante Gowda. After entering their names, they entered ‘brothers’ in the column that seeks to know the relationship of the visitors to the inmate.
Arrested by the special investigation team from Criminal Investigation Department on May 4 for allegedly kidnapping a 47-year-old woman from KR Nagar in Mysuru district, Revanna was in judicial custody. He was lodged in the prison on May 8. After spending seven days, Revanna walked out on bail on May 14. The undertrial prisoner number was 3-4567-2024. City-based activist T Narasimhamurthy had sought details under RTI of the activities of Revanna in prison, including whether he was given home food.
Other than these five ‘brothers’, MC Satish and senior JD(S) MLA GT Devegowda met Revanna on May 13, after identifying themselves as his friends. On May 14, the day Revanna was released, former JD(S) MLA Sa Ra Mahesh visited him after mentioning that he’s a friend.
Asked whether Revanna was provided home food, the reply stated: “No home food was provided to the prisoner in Central Prison.
