Horror on wheels: Woman drugged, gang-raped by colleagues in car in Hyderabad, 2 held

HYDERABAD: Two sales executives of a well-known real estate firm here were arrested Wednesday for allegedly drugging, raping and beating their 26-year-old colleague for hours inside a car on the night of June 30.
The colleagues left the woman outside a private hostel in Miyapur after the crime, police said. The accused, identified as Sanga Reddy (39) and Janardhan Reddy (25), were sent in judicial custody on Wednesday.
While a zero FIR was initially filed at Uppal police station based on a complaint by the survivor, the case was subsequently transferred to Miyapur police station as the crime occurred under the latter’s jurisdiction.
The accused have been booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 509 (insulting modesty of woman) and 420 (cheating), Miyapur SHO V Durga Rama Linga Prasad said. “The survivor has been sent for medical examination,” he added.
Initial investigation revealed that the accused picked up their colleague from near the hostel in Miyapur on Sunday morning and headed to Yadadri on a site visit. On their way back to Hyderabad, they stopped the car near an under-construction building around 10.30 pm, claiming that the vehicle had broken down.
They first offered her food, which she refused. Janardhan then offered her a soft drink and a sweet. Soon after that, the woman started feeling dizzy, a police officer said, adding that she initially thought it was due to not having any food throughout the day. However, she started falling unconscious when Janardhan made her have more sweets, police said.
“The two took advantage of this and stripped her, touched her inappropriately, raped her and even beat her,” the police officer said, adding that the woman was tortured till 3 am on Monday.
