CHITRADURGA: A delegation from the state unit of the BJP, headed by the party’s state president BY Vijayendra, met the family of Renukaswamy, the victim in the murder case involving Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa.
The delegation appealed to the govt to provide compensation to the family and a govt job for Renukaswamy’s wife. They also demanded a CBI investigation into the case.
Additionally, the delegation emphasized the necessity for a fair investigation and stringent punishment for those found guilty. As a gesture of support, the BJP offered financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the bereaved family.
After meeting the family, Vijayendra expressed dismay over the tragic incident and what he called the govt “apathy”. “Renukaswamy’s murder is an act of sheer inhumanity, and it deserves une-quivocal condemnation from every section of society,” Vijayendra said. “The pain and anguish of the family are palpable, and it is our responsibility to provide them with solace and support during this trying time.”
Vijayendra pointed out that no minister had visited the bereaved family and urged the state govt, especially home minister G Parameshwara, to prioritise the caseand extend both moral and financial assistance to the family.
“The investigation must be conducted meticulously, free from external influence or pressure. Justice must prevail, and perpetrators of this heinous crime should be held accountable,” Vijayendra said, echoing sentiments of Chitradurga MP Govind Karjol, who accompanied him during the visit.
I’LL DISCUSS WITH CM: PARAMESHWARA
Home minister G Parameshwara later also met the parents and wife of Renukaswamy and admitted that the family had demanded justice and asked for a govt job.
“I will discuss with the chief minister [Siddaramaiah] [on the demand for a govt job],” Parameshwara said. He said there was no necessity to hand over the investigation to the CBI since the state police were doing a commendable job. “I came here to console thefamily,” Parameshwara said. “This incident is painful not only for the family but also for all of us. So far, 17 people have been arrested. They are being thoroughly interrogated. Our police force has done a good job.”
