BJP functionary V Somanna on Wednesday targeted state unit vice-president BY Vijayendra indirectly by blaming his close associates for his loss in Chamarajanagar segment.

Though he did not mention the names of functionaries who worked against him, he asked the Chamarajanagar district BJP unit to initiate disciplinary action against them.

Speaking at a meeting of BJP workers, where Somanna thanked those who worked for him, the Lingayat strongman made no bones that it was his party's local functionaries who backstabbed him. Somanna lost to Congress' C Puttarangashetty by 7,533 votes.

The former minister claimed some Lingayat leaders also did not work for him. Somanna explained that he did not 'migrate' to Chamarajanagar but followed the party high command's directive. "I left Govindaraj Nagar in Bengaluru where I was strong," he said.
