BHUBANESWAR: The health and family welfare department issued directions on Tuesday to the heads of all district headquarters hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, community health centres, and primary health centres across the state to create social media accounts on X (formerly Twitter) and respond to people’s queries and issues raised there.
The heads have been instructed to complete this task within the next three days.
In a letter to the heads of healthcare institutions, health department secretary Shalini Pandit said that this decision was taken during a department review meeting chaired by health minister Mukesh Mahaling.
Pandit added that upon creating these social media accounts, all concerned parties must be responsive to the needs expressed by the public through social media.
Following the meeting with the department officials, health minister Mahaling took to X and said: “Today chaired a review meeting of the health department and discussed with the principal secretary of the health department, director of the health services and other senior officials and directed them to provide better healthcare services to all the patients.”
