BATHINDA: A severe heatwave continued to bake the plains of
Punjab and
Haryana on Monday, with maximum temperatures staying at least 6°C above normal in most places.
The heatwave was severe in Chandigarh, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Pathankot, Halwara, Bathinda and Gurdaspur in Punjab, with all these cities recording maximum temperatures between 43°C and 47°C. Bathinda was the hottest in Punjab at 46.9°C.
It was followed by 46.5°C in Samrala.
In Haryana, the heatwave was severe in Ambala, Karnal, Rohtak, Hisar, Narnaul, and Sirsa. Pandu Pindara in Jind was the hottest at 46.9°C. It was followed by 46.7°C at Nuh. Faridabad recorded a maximum temperature of 46.6°C. Mahendragarh and Sirsa were at 46.5°C, Rohtak was at 46.4°C, Jagdishpur in Sonipat was at 46.1°C, amd Balsamandin Hisar at 46°C.
