Mohali marooned, Zirakpur worst hit
Mohali: Two hours of heavy rainfall on Saturday morning in Mohali district once again put on a question mark on the tall claims by the administration that it’s been doing its best to prepare for the rainy season. Traffic chaos and waterlogging was witnessed in various parts of the district. Topping the list of the worst-affected areas was once again Zirakpur.

Office-goers were the worst-affected. Despite claims of cleaning road gullies before the monsoon, the streets connecting under the Chandigarh-Zirakpur flyover were full of water, they said. The traffic chaos at Patiala and Panchkula turn, under the flyover, started since morning.
The pedestrians too had a harrowing experience as the footpath was invisible under the water. All reached their respective workplaces drenched, they said. “What the administration is doing since yonder years, we don’t know,” said Parminder Singh, a pedestrian, who was stranded at Patiala Chowk and was struggling to catch a bus to reach his office in time.
Residents from VIP Road, Pabhat Road, Mubarikpur, Airport Road, Kharar, and many city areas also complained about waterlogging.
