A news report on Saturday claimed a connection between
Ayushmann Khurrana and yesteryears’ TV series
Ramayan. The report claimed that the good-natured demoness,
Trijata who provides emotional support to
Sita in Ravana’s captivity, was played by Ayushmann’s wife, Tahira Kashyap’s mother, Anita Kashyap. However, Tahira’s parents, based in Chandigarh, have denied this claim. Speaking to ETimes, her father,
Yajan Kashyap, former deputy editor of a newspaper, said, “This is just to clarify that news, which has been viral since this morning, that my wife,
Anita Kashyap, mother of
Tahira Kashyap, and mother-in-law of Ayushmann Khurrana, figured prominently in the well-known TV serial
Ramayan, telecast in the 80s, is totally, baseless, false and concocted.” Adding that Anita remained an educationist throughout her life and retired as Vice Principal, YPS, Mohali, in 2016, Yajan, said, “She has never had any connection with acting and both of us lead a retired life.
No reporter contacted us or our daughter Tahira, or our son-in-law Ayushmann in connection with this report.”
Trijata and (R) Dipika Chikhlia Topiwala in Ramayan
Even as the news claiming this connection between Ayushmann and
Ramayan, was incorrect, it turns out Ayushmann does have another connection with the mythological series after all. In Ayushmann's film
Bala,
Dipika Chikhlia Topiwala, the actor who played Sita in
Ramayan, played Yami Gautam’s mother.
Both the Kashyap and Khurrana households remained confused over the alleged similarity between Anita Kashyap and the actor playing Trijata.
