Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M K Stalin
COIMBATORE: Stalin said it was TN MPs who laid down the path for the current trajectory of Indian politics by speaking about social justice often in parliament in the last five years. "This time I want our MPs to set an example to other parliamentarians. The speeches should safeguard Indian constitution, social justice, secularism, diversity, cultural ethos,"' he said.
They should speak louder for TN's rights and stop "minority BJP from going down the fascist path", Stalin said.
"I would say with certainty that our 40 MPs would act like a shield to protect the people from the BJP which is desperate to change our constitution," he said.
Stalin said BJP securing 240 MPs was "PM Narendra Modi's defeat" rather than victory. "Now there are 237 members in the opposition. BJP cannot get away with whatever it wishes," Stalin said. "Our MPs will bring down your arrogance with their questions. Wait and see," Stalin said.
Stalin said the DMK front's sweep in TN and Puducherry was not an ordinary victory, but a historic one. He credited the unity of INDIA front in TN for the electoral win.
"If we won 40 seats in the elections, the 41st victory was when PM Modi bowed down to the Constitution of India," he said.
The winning streak of the DMK front would continue in future too. DMK would create a conducive situation in Tamil Nadu to ensure that the Dravidian model govt continues forever. "We will win the Vikravandi by poll too. I'm not saying this due to self-conceit. Rather, it's because of the trust we have on the people of Tamil Nadu," he said.
Leaders of DMK's allies including TNCC chief K Selvaperunthagai, VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan, CPI state secretary R Mutharasan, CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan and MDMK headquarters secretary Durai Vaiko lauded Stalin for his hard work in the runup to the polls. State sports minister Udhayanidhi Stalin felicitated all the 40 MPs who won in the recent elections.
