Priest gets bail in rape case

Chennai: Madras high court has granted conditional bail to a priest of Chennai Kaalikambal Temple who was arrested on charges of raping a woman devotee.
Justice T V Tamilselvi granted the relief on a bail application moved by Karthik Munusamy.
According to the prosecution, the survivor, an engineer, got acquainted with the priest while she was working in a private television channel.During one of her visits, he spiked her drink and raped her. When she became pregnant, Karthik took her to a private hospital in Vadapalani in Feb last year and forced her to abort.
After repeated instances of sexual assault, the woman decided to lodge a police complaint. TNN
