NEW DELHI: The mastermind behind the murder of Ravi Yadav in Delhi's Sarai Rohilla area has been apprehended, bringing the total number of arrests to seven, according to Delhi Police. The incident occurred on the night of May 8-9, when police discovered Yadav's body with approximately 100 wounds. The investigation led to the arrest of six individuals, including three juveniles, within two days, with the prime conspirator apprehended on June 14.

Police were alerted to the crime when a PCR call reported a body on New Rohtak Road. Officers arrived to find Ravi Yadav's body bleeding profusely. Despite initial efforts, Yadav's identity remained unknown until his wife identified him at the hospital mortuary. Yadav's wife revealed that he had been a complainant and eyewitness in a 2020 case involving Sections 302, 307, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at the Anand Parbat police station.
In her statement, Yadav's wife mentioned Kishan, who had recently been released on bail and was reportedly seeking revenge against her husband. "One Kishan was arrested in this case and he was released on bail in this case recently, who was roaming around trying to kill her husband," she stated.
Following this information, a new case with FIR No. 292/24 dated May 9, 2024, under Section 302 of the IPC, was registered at Sarai Rohilla police station based on her statement. Delhi Police launched an investigation, resulting in the swift arrests of Ajeet Kumar Jha, also known as Gullu (22), Shiva (20), Iqbal (19), and three juveniles aged 14 and 17. Four sharp-edged knives and the clothes worn during the crime were recovered from the suspects.
Efforts then focused on apprehending the mastermind, Kishan, who had evaded capture. Authorities utilized technical surveillance and local intelligence to track him down. Based on collected information, police arrested 24-year-old Kishan, a resident of Zakhira, from Moti Nagar on June 14.
Delhi Police shared Kishan's confession, which detailed his role in the crime alongside his six associates, including three juveniles. "The accused Kishan confessed about to his role and involvement in present case of murder along-with his other six associates including three juveniles," police stated.

Kishan disclosed that he and two friends, Rajan and Tanbir, had a conflict with Yadav near his home in 2020. During this altercation, Tanbir fired a shot that deflected off a gas cylinder, fatally striking Rajan. "Accordingly, a case FIR No. 162/2020 dated July 9, 2020 u/s 307/302/34 IPC was got registered at PS Anand Parvat, Delhi on the statement of Ravi Yadav," the police explained. Kishan and Tanbir were previously detained in connection with this incident, but Kishan was released on bail in December 2023.
After his release, Kishan reconnected with Rajan's widow, marrying her and vowing to avenge Rajan's death. Kishan and his associates planned Yadav's murder, executing it on the night of May 8-9. On May 28, Kishan was apprehended with a knife in Tikona Park and taken into custody under the Arms Act. Despite his recent release, police arrested him again on June 14 from the Jhuggi area of Zakhira for his involvement in Yadav's murder.
